This demo has a timer interval that slows it down a little. There is a 1 second delay between domain in the demo version. Sorry, but we're trying to keep the competition low - because drop catching is very competitive.

To fix the error: MSINET.OCX on the demo,

Make sure you're logged in as an Administrator and...

Go to http://activex.microsoft.com/controls/vb6/msinet.cab

Download the cab file from the above link. Extract it by right clicking on the .inf file and click Install.

You might also get another ocx error that a file is missing: called COMDLG32.OCX

To fix the COMDLG32.OCX error, Go to

http://activex.microsoft.com/controls/vb6/comdlg32.cab

Download the cab file from the above link. Extract it by right clicking on the .inf file and click Install.

This should fix any issues with the program. If you have any other issues, let me & I'll post the fix here.

I download 179kb and when try to open get " Unexpected end of archive"

Hello,

Due to the new rules that Dynadot's API has to change. I would like to include the following details of how these news affect this win 32 drop catcher program:

First Off,

1.) Don't panic. The API still works for all the other TLD's just fine: .org, .info, .tv, (to name a few) & .mobi soon.
2.) Dynadot is sorting some stuff out with verisign to get their access back to the registry for .com & .net & demonstrate their API will no longer abuse the domain registration process of the central registry.
3.) For all previous buyers of this software - you will get a free upgrade to the new API for .com & .net as soon as they make the new Dynadot Sept 2008 Oct 1st API manual public.

4.) I will not be able to publish anymore freebie versions of this software. ::

I know it sucks, but my original piece of software <shown above> has caused dynadot.com enough headaches with verisign as-is. Sorry Dynadot!

The Dynadot API is enabled again for .com & .net domains. Dynadot did not make any changes to their API, so this demo will continue to work fine.

Although the API is a little slower, it does work successfully in securing domains you add to the drop catcher.

Once you have it in the System32 folder do the following.

Go to ‘Start’ -> ‘Run’, type (or copy/paste from here) ‘regsvr32 C:WindowsSystem32MSINET.OCX’ and press Enter (a message box normally appears containing ‘DllRegisterServer in C:WindowsSystem32MSINET.OCX succeeded.’)

The Dynadot API key is an encrypted string you receive from Dynadot if you have a bulk account. A bulk account at Dynadot requires that you prepay your account $500 or have spent over $500 in the past year.

The API key can be found under your Dynadot account:

Under: Account Area -> Domains -> Advanced Settings -> API

You'll be able to generate your "API Key" here & set the IP address from which you'll be running this desktop drop catcher from.

Note, this demo is much slower than the paid version of this software, Available here:

I don't think you are even able to order it because paypal does not allow the payment to be made. It appears there are some issues with expron.
