I need someone to manage the Danish version of one of my websites. After the initial site translation, the job will entail only about 20 to 30 minutes of email management daily. 'Salary' for this job will be a sizeable percentage of recurring sales.

I have the relevant, targetted Danish traffic to our website, but very few sales compared to our main site. It is my hope that tailor-fitting a Danish website should bring up conversion rates to at least match our other sites.

Hey,
I have found a program that is free and downloadable to your desktop that allows you to type in text and then translate it to another language. If you recieve an email in Danish or have something you wish to type into your site in Danish, then you can type English in the box and translate to Danish. This will save you loads of money on a partner. (Unless you want one) Hope this helps, PM me if you would like the url to this program.

Selv om jer recept en email i Dansk eller nyde et eller andet jer ønske hen til skrive i jeres arbejdsplads i Dansk , så er der ikke mere jer kunne skrive Engelsk i den boks og oversætte hen til Dansk. Even though I'm not fluent in Danish I can tell you that the snippet translated here is far from correct Danish. Normally I can read a Danish text at a good speed and understand the context. This is not the case here, even though I could understand the context nearly fully when reading it through a couple of times.

IMHO quality translations can't be done by applications available on the market today. There are to many factors involved in a professional use of a language as I see it. One very simple mistake the above translation does, for example, is to translate 'site' into 'work site'. Maybe that error could have been corrected (even though I doubt it) changing the original to web site, but when using an automated translation the knowledge of the target language is usually very low or non-existing.

Another example are directly translated manuals that we see here in Sweden at times. These can sure bring a laugh but almost everybody would prefer it in English.

So either keep the english site or hire a translator as you are trying to do here, are the only reasonable suggestions imho.

Also, the nordic population has a far better english knowledge in general than most other non-english countries but are also more restrictive on their use of credit/debit cards (actually it's very seldom one has cards with credits) than ie. americans and brits

You have a good point about the programs doing translations. Guess there are some things humans actually DO do better than a program. I have to kick myself every now and then to remember that! lol. Thanks for your feedback!

Sweden is actually a bigger market than Denmark in general, as it has the highest percentage online and about 50-70% bigger population.
