Is .tv corp using scare tactics on renewals?

I've been seeing a lot of random .tv domain drops with huge premium fees, such as - alislam.tv $1198.80; situp.tv $1198.80; bidup.tv $1198.80; arabianhorse.tv $1198.80; sabadosgigantes.tv $1198.80; sportspictures.tv $1198.80, etc...

Any normal person can see that these are not worthy of a premium price, so begs the question, what are .tv corp up to?

Are they trying to scare domainers into renewing their domains, in case the price gets randomly jacked up? What planet are they from?

They're from the Island of Tuvalu.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/dot-tv/728678-tv-corp-using-scare-tactics-renewals.html

Their pricing seems random but usually there is some kind of convention.
  • Registered for over 10 years?
  • Trademark?
  • Was a Legacy Premium?
  • Was developed in some way?
  • Has a high value .com?
  • And.... finally the Verisign Random Generator - put a few crap names at $1200 and the $600 names seem like bargains!

Not sure what is scare tactics. If you want to keep a name? Renew it. Anything decent gets backordered .. or caught by people with more resources than normal people.

Scare tactics? Nah.

Stupid? Probably - coz ain't many buying names like the above. I've seen some go though.

Not to sure if its scare tactics, sounds more like automated pricing gone wrong.

Whatever happened to all premium renewals to be 'standard' pricing?

These aren't renewals? These are "premium" available domains with initial prices set by the Verisign™© Randomizer™©

A 2 letter domain was repriced at $400, forex.tv was reg fee?? and hairtraffic.tv $1050.... I think they could be back to smoking crack like the good old days when they let Seoul.tv drop due to thinking it was a typo ... Remember they also let 1 letters drop on the "relaunch" goldrush.
I honestly believe they pick a number randomly - there is no system involved at all.
