![]() ![]() ![]() | Buying a .tv on the back of a recent domain sale on dnjournal![]() Quick question for all the pros, and not so pros. Does anyone on here buy any .tv's after a quite big sale on dnjounal for a different extension. My Dad has just done that very thing, and I wanted to know if anyone else has done it, and as to whether it has any merit. ![]() I can't tell you the domain name, as it is not mine, however, it is the same name as one that sold on dnjounal recently. ( if that makes sense) i.e, to give an example, if asdfgh.com had just sold on dnj, then would someone buy asdfgh.tv ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/dot-tv/724849-buying-tv-back-recent-domain-sale.html Thanks everyone, Keep up the good work. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Many sales are one of a kind and unlikely to repeat in another extension. I think it's probably a waste of money (and time). At the worst this could constitute cybersquatting.

many newbs also make the mistake of trying to value a non .com domains' value, based on the .com's sales price. which may be the same rationale the OP's father took when he regged the .tv though, depending on the domain and usage....there could be value without infringement. if it's generic in nature and not used for same product/service or competitor.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I've noticed that sometimes, not always, but sometimes after a sale of say .com domain, in a couple of weeks I saw sales of the same keywords in .org or .net. If the "sold" keyword makes any sense with .tv - why not? Plus when you would try to sell this domain you could always use the fact that .com was sold in ...... range.

![]() ![]() ![]() | Thanks for the imput guys Dad is a bit of a "newbie", and consequently is making lot's of mistakes, hence the reason he asks for guidance on here. I do not believe it will constitute cyber squatting, as the name is a normal product out there. I must admit I thought it was a risky play myself, however, he keeps catching me off guard, especially with his 2 sales this last 8 weeks, which I thought had no chance. Anyway time will tell. Thanks again. BJ |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Statistically speaking, less than 1% of the domain supply will ever sell. Instead of looking at somebody else's business I would suggest that you pick domains you're willing to use if they won't sell (most likely outcome). Names like you describe are dogs because they are speculative, they are of not use to you but they cost money to renew.
