![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | WHAT happened? Turn your back for a few minutes and everything starts to go crazy again. Seems the past few days has had some rather ballistic sales: RB.tv $9500 HOW.tv $11,000 MM.tv $4,500 PRO.tv $15,000 BESTDIETS.tv $17,000 (according to allthings.tv) QA.tv $10,000 COLLECTIVE $6,500 TC.tv $6000 TASTE.tv $8,500 NEX.tv $2,500 plus I know of large sales for ORLANDO, SM, HEARING, HORSE, PATIENTS and ... well, there are many more. This is for information. Is this a blip, or do people understand that the world now 'gets' what .TV can do for their brands?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | But how do you know about things like Horse.TV? How do we prove this sale was real? I think we'll have to take your word for it And, I will, over almost anyone else's. But you're right.. I turn my back and everyone else is selling stuff! ![]() If you search for "What comes after the Cloud?" you will find TWO things. 1) Ubiquitous Bandwidth -> Evernet and 2) And that the TV platform is anything that attaches to the internet. Not saying that (2) correlates directly to .TV but you have to think somewhere it does The one thing we need is for everyone who operates on .TV to actually "own" their .TV.I don't think it's a Blip. I think .TV has a moderately bright future in an otherwise dark world. I need to go and work on something .TV development related right now actually Maybe I can put together a proper site on something. TBA.TV anyone?J. ---------- Post added at 06:35 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:30 PM ---------- When I say: "The one thing we need is for everyone who operates on .TV to actually "own" their .TV" I don't mean "WE" domainers. I mean "WE" everyone. There's a lack of branding and marketing understanding by companies who operate as COMPANY.TV and have their site on COMPANY.com If they operate as COMPANY TV (no dot) it's slightly different but that's a discussion I've had somewhere else before... yeah, we talk

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Seeing the sort of prices that Afternic seems to consistently garner for .COM domains I often wouldn't pay reg fee for, it appears that the general public and/or Corporate America has little appreciation for keyword branding. I really don't see what is so special about .COM if the keywords don't clearly and succinctly communicate what your business/website is about. Thus far I don't personally see a migration to .TV but it is nice to see a few sales on DNJ. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'm getting close to believing that most sales are fake. There are sales every week that just don't add up at all. Less than impressive keywords forming poor phrases all sold for 1000 more than they would reach on DNF, NP, or even eBAY...and incalculably more than a no sale at Bido. The reality is that chumps sell for chump change and a lot of us need too much chump money .... and bargain from a position of weakness. Tis just an opinion before anyone gets too riled up. ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/dot-tv/722983-what-happened.html I do think there's an appreciation for Keyword Branding - what's lacking is an association with the domain name. I'd find this concerning in any TLD including .com. It's perfectly feasible to build out a brand on someone else's platform and I'm seeing that more and more. It's a dangerous path but I don't see that many have been burned yet. Platforms rule. Domains drool. I think a unity tv platform will come and it will be interesting to see how the domain space vs platform space plays out. I'm very bullish short term on the platform concept and that it will, for some future, drag domains with it. Long term I'm bearish and see a pretty collapsing marketplace with GEOs being at the front line of the assault. They will leave the ditch and face the enemy to find themselves rapidly gunned down, or, looking into the eyes of a white flag. They will EITHER be the leading investment grade domains or crash the hardest depending on where things go. Claude said something about sausages that fits here. Domaining. It's a tightrope walk, high-wire trick and it's all in the balance... we walk the dizzy and heady heights on a strand and doom is just one bird perching on the balance pole at an inopportune moment.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | i think at this stage of the game tv should be doing much better.the man in the street should get it now and pay the price. something just dont add up for me,i see dot tv as just perflick for the web just look at paversshoes.tv surley we should be getting offers everyday and seein high sales. dot tv is relativly cheap is this becouse tv domainers tend to sell cheaply whats keeping the prices down. no offence intended

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Default User you make one of the best points usually not articulated. There are many in .tv that do operate from a need to sell or I am not sure I totally believe so I will take $1000. There are really no Rick Schwartz type .tvers that will turn down offers on a consistent basis. Before anyone posts they turned down xx,xxx on one name, I am talking turning that down on hundreds of names like Schwartz,Schilling and Berkens. I see the sweetspot in the $500 to $3000 range for the majority of names. Tld competition IMO will give many other choices, it does not matter if domainers think they suck, choice is choice and dilution is dilution. ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=722983 The other point of the matter is this is a very subjective business. If you sell one .tv for $200,000 you probably could care less if its an outlier sale or getting lucky. All you care about is that its $200,000 and the escrow went through. Reg names for $10 and sell for $500 to $3000 over and over and you will do very well, even if you never hit the big sale. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | There are lots of ways to pick other things. The domainers you list turn $2K names into $20K names. They also turn $20K names into $20K names (and people get angry because they can't sell their 'just as good names') and occasionally will turn $30K names into $20K. ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=722983
My feeling is that once you get to the big ticket items $100K plus - it's just the last bullet. Most people do not work in this space ![]() Most of all : I need to go get a life because I just wasted time on this gross over-simplification
