I think waiting another 10 yrs is quite a long time, unless you're under 25.

Look at it this way, I mean, you could accept the offer (which you quoted is a substantial amount) and use the money as a down payment for a mortgage, for a property you desire in London.

Just my thought.

Congrats Hullswingers, although I agree with b2b, you could indeed consider taking the offer. If you invest part of the sale in new .tv names you will have money in the bank while you still keep your .tv portfolio at a certain quality level. Especially when this buyer is paying way above market price this is something to consider in my opinion.

Anyway, it's great to hear this good news!

Rookie .TV Domainer of the Year 2007

Apartments cost in upwards of $1,700,000 in New York. I doubt you turned that much down. What was the amount?

My first thought was: "Just because one company wants your name does not mean its worth that much to anyone else besides them. You should take the offer because you may never get another one like it"

Best of luck!

Unless you're constantly getting those kind of offers on the domain in question, in 10 years, heck 5, you may probably be hating this day.

Now let me play devil's advocate on this one.

Assume you got an offer of $100,000 US. If your belief is in the DOT TV extension, not just the domain.....why wouldn't you take the offer and reinvest it to purchase a whole portfolio of DOT TV names - thereby spreading out your risks and casting a much larger net for potential end users to find you.

How many DOT TV names could you purchase for $100,000?

You could purchase Birmingham.TV (UK Geo), a bunch of major World geos, and have enough left to reg/purchase many solid dot tv domains.

This better be a tier one DOT TV domain, otherwise opportunity costs might make selling and portfolio development a stronger long term option with greater potential and reduced risks.

Answer - because many swing for the fences desiring a home run (resulting in many strike outs) vs a bunch of doubles that probably score more runs - but aren't as sexy to report and don't get their picture in DNJournal.

Oh boy , If you have really had an offer that would have to be, from what you said, in the $xxx, xxx for ANY .tv particularly in today's market you really should tear their arm off.

BTW- If you wait ten years you won't be looking at ANY London property for less than one million sterling.

No brainer in my opinion- but that's me.

York in the UK is not the same as New York.. I guess he has had an offer of between 50,000 - 100,000 pounds.

I would sell.. I actually think its a wind up.. Why wouldnt you sell at that type of price range?.. 10 years the world could be doomed!

Best of luck in whatever you do..

I'm with those who say sell. You never know what can happen in ten years time. The domain may be worthless. Properties in London may be worth a fortune, or worth even less than now. And with the way the world is going, I'd rather live in York than London any day. Lovely place.

If it was me, I would've probably sold the name if it was an attractive offer. Every name is for sale, at the right price. The funds could be used to acquire other names or even as a downpayment as mentioned above.

I have plenty of .tv's that i would turn down $1MM plus offers for, let alone 100k. My future plans are worth too much to me to let them go even for what seems like a lot.

Then too I have even more I'd gladly take 100 bucks on if only I could get it.

Congrats on the offer but to be very honest without the name or what the offer was.. this thread offers very little information at all.

Yes we all know buyers are out there but what is the point of making a thread like this ?

For a minute, I thought he was saying he'd turn down $1,000,000.00 US for some of his .TV domains (which we all know is total BS). IMHO, LMAO, TGIT.
