Espanol.tv or Spanish.tv-Your opinions
I own Espanol.tv and been in contact with the owner of Spanish.tv to buy that name as well.
In your opinion what name is more valuable, Espanol.tv or Spanish.tv.
I feel that Espanol.tv is more valuable because if you are going to have a language name is should be in that language. What are your guys thoughts.
Thanks, Jim

Great name. Well done Jim.
BTW, I highly suggest you to consider buying the IDN name: español.tv instead of spanish.tv.
I do not own español.tv
Although the keyword
español contains a non-ascii letter (ñ), this term is more popular than
espanol .

Espanol by far.
In my opinion Spanish.tv does not have great value at all.

A good suggestion by .tv, yet the typing of espanol without the tilde is still easier for the majority and may not be that big of a difference in the long run, but wise to cover your bases.
Espanol.tv trumps Spanish.tv but good to have and hold both.

It is not difficult with Spanish keyboards.

Well understood, but how many more keyboards are made without that key and how many users, Spanish or otherwise, will even care if the channel is developed properly?
I didn't discount your suggestion, as it is valid and something I would attempt to do myself, espanol.tv is just fine as it is, again if developed accordingly.

Well,
I'm expressing my views only based on the domain name. Any name could be developed into a nice website, whether it is an IDN or ASCII.
I do agree that the term Espanol is also widely used.

To me ESPANOL.tv is the best, obviously appropriate for development, content in Spanish. I would get SPANISH.tv as a second choice for traffic redirection.
ESPAñ OL would be a real plus.

Jim,
I would be curious to see what Mrs. Jello's asking price is for that domain name. He usually is looking for $XXX,XXX to $X,XXX,XXX.
Best,
A

Mrs Jello wanted $150,000 for Spanish.tv. Way to expensive. I thought the name would be good to have but 99% of the bilingual people who speak both english and spanish told me that Espanol.tv is far better name and Spanish.tv does not make business sense at all.
Thanks, Jim

i prefer spanish.tv since espanol.tv, without "ñ" has no sense for me, sorry
did you asked for español.tv to its owner? Maybe it is more cheaper than spanish.tv, or even spaniards.tv can be even a good option.
regards

The surprising thing is that if you filter by country, español beats espanol even in the US.
http://www.google.com/trends?q=espa...date=all&sort=0
.es already supports ñ, so probably another 5 years from now, espanol.tv will just be a typo of español.tv.

Spain, what a great country. I live 20 minutes from the border of Mexico in San Diego, California. At the internet cafe I went to down in Mexico , none of the people I asked would type in español, instead they would just type espanol. Maybe in Mexico it's different than in spain or it's a keyboard issue. I don't know. I never thought of getting the español or "tilde" version of spanish keywords but it's seems to be it's very popular. In fact, I was not even sure many keyboards had the "tilde" but I guess I was wrong based on the trends I see. I am sure the good ones are taken though.
Thanks, Jim

Google trends are based on searches not type-in to domains. People don't use ñ because it doesn't work for most. But once ñ works for 99% of people, domains with n will become typos. .es started supporting ñ a few months ago, so the foundations have being laid.

What people are using is already a typo.
Ñ is not an accented letter of N. Ñ is just another letter in Spanish which has no connection with the letter N.
The letter "ñ" is very important in Spanish, it is a different key next to letter "L" in the Keyboard, and Spanish people don't use "n" instead of "ñ", because then is a complete different word, i.e.:
campana = bell
campaña = campaign
una = one
uña = nail
dueno = wrong
dueño = owner
words with N instead of Ñ are not EVEN in the dictionary, just a few examples:
bano
Espana
Madrileno
prenar
Pina
Canaveral
manana
extranar
carino
So if you don't use Ñ, nobody knows what you are writing.
So if you ever buying a domain in Spanish, please consider this...

i think ñ is only in spanish keyboards so i understand that people from mexico prefers espanol.tv, but espanol is not used in spain, we use "ñ", so español.tv is prefered, people dont think in espanol as a valid word
in adition, i agree with the comment from .tv

Understood.
But with keyboards without the tilde, nobody cares.
Welcome to the 21st century.
I think Orwell called it newspeak.
