ABC NewsOne is ABC News's affiliate news service. It gathers and feeds regional, national and international news material to ABC affiliates around the country and foreign networks.

Their website's URL used to be http://www.abcnewsone.com

Well they've recently launched a new website and changed their URL to http://www.abcnewsone.tv

And http://www.abcnewsone.com now redirects to http://www.abcnewsone.tv

ABC being a huge network, this is IMHO an exciting little piece of news that shows how quickly the .tv extension is rising to the top in the world of media, news and entertainement.

This is another great piece of info Michael.

Absoloutely no need for them to change from dot com to .TV (so some would say), but they felt that it is the way forward, kind of flies in the face of some of the arguments the old school, hardcore dot com gang throw at us.

We're used to seeing many new media companies, new satellite TV channels, new Internet-only tv channels which are using .tv domains.

Those big TV networks have already marketed themselves around .com for a long time like other big corporations, so it's much more difficult for them to move to .tv

So it's really exciting news to see that even those big TV networks are making moves towards .tv. As these channels are watched by millions and their services used by a very large audience, it's very important to raise .tv awareness and to make .tv the TLD of choice for the world of media, video, news and entertainment.

Maybe they're not always changing the main URL of the TV network, but we can already see lots of those regional affiliated channels, lots of specific tv shows, lots of particular departments/services of these networks that are moving from .com to .tv

I fully agree. This is a logical and natural move, not just a trend but a necessity for such networks to adhere to this extension, not sure about my English but i would call it "image building", just that little change in their URL makes the difference between the old (.com) web and the new internet tv world, if technology is improving for all no matter the extension, the name IS the image de marque : .TV what best ?

I would disagree, if only for the fact that things never remain the same. Change is natural, and eventually something else will rise up higher, it's inevitable.
