Is anyone looking to buy any .tv in the marketplace ?

I make this post as part curious and part for the several pms I have received about the marketplace.

Here are actual quotes

"The .tv marketplace is a joke does anyone buy. You should close the .tv marketplace as it takes up space and does no good"

Another one

"Thanks eq but I am out of here, I only care about selling domains and that doesn't happen on the .tv marketplace later "

????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/dot-tv/463073-anyone-looking-buy-any-tv-marketplace.html

The best one is this one IMO

"How cheap are you .tvers wow I cannot sell a $20,000 for $100 what a joke"

He did not say what the $20,000 domain was.

No one can make anyone buy a domain.

i have sold couple of .tv in marketplace but all of them were low price.i guess since this is a reseller marketplace so i can't expect anyone buying high priced domains.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that NP is a domainers forum, which means that people buying/selling domain names here are domainers. This usually means resellers rather than endusers.

You can't expect resellers to buy domains at enduser prices. If you want to sell at enduser prices, you need to sell to endusers and that would usually not take place in domainers/resellers forums.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=463073

I don't think that the other NP marketplaces (.com, .mobi, etc) are that much different. I'm not sure that there have been many $xx,xxx or $xxx, xxx taking place in any NP marketplace, but I'm definitely not surprised of that.

NP marketplaces are perfect for domainers/resellers. Enduser sales are a different world but nobody can really expect to find them around here.

Apparently the people pmming me do not agree or care. I thought it was funny that two of them came in within a minute. People frustrated I guess if you are only interested in selling then I do understand.

I believe the market is slack on the .tv forum because many are in the position of having to renew their premiums purchased in the mini landrush last May. This has tied up available cash and has led some to try and off-load some of their lesser domains to help cover the costs. Unfortunately the off-loads are not getting picked up because the potential buyers are in the same boat. IMO the marketplace will pick up June>.

I agree Len many are over extended and many in private have expressed concerned to me about that from doing partnerships or domain development.

I think there are still alot of good opportunities out there for hand-regging .tv's. Once that all dries up, I believe the .tv marketplace will command a bigger audience, w/deeper pockets. But, I would still like to keep it open. There are some great deals to be had w/some of the .tv-ers unloading some great domains for next to nothing!

I've bought quite a few domains on the .tv marketplace and I'm very satisfied with my purchases.

But some domains may be overpriced or of a lower quality, which means that they are more difficult to sell anywhere.

It's not the .tv marketplace's fault, but has more to do with the price expectations of some sellers and/or the lower quality of some domains.

Good quality domains at realistic prices tend to sell quickly, either on .tv marketplace, on Sedo, on TDNAM or anywhere else.

The market place is great, please do not close it.
I'm so sick of the BS and whining I hear on this forum, we should be thankful it exists.

Keep it open, everything about this forum is great and this place is where most of these loud mouths got there info to begin with, including myself, so there opinions are really ridiculous.

Id have to add, that I also agree, people are most likely frustrated, they want ot make sales and they cant. The economy is not that great right now,s o people are being careful. That is not EQ's problem nor anyone elses, why not get proactive and try to post elsewhere,

we need a legitimate sales arena for .tv, so lets be thankful we have it.

Keep it open. I have both bought and sold in there.

I sometimes place mine for sale not just in here but in the other sale sections as well. ironically, more action for me in here.

Except for that whiner mindwrecker, all is good.

there are a handful of names i would buy in there now if i had the cash- renewals are killin me! not just tv renewals- i must have gone on some spending spree last year

keep it open. it is useful. it is not the be-all and end-all given that we have at most a couple hundred people around and of those only a few might be interested in any given name (and a bunch of names put there are, let's say, less than prime), so you can't expect an instant sell.

But I am pretty sure it would hurt everyone to close it.

I was never closing it I was posting a comment in a pm, 3 came in over the last day and that is why I posted it. Although no one has said yes I am buying.

I think it is like LEN said a lot of people who got the .tv premiums in MAY now got a renewal or a bunch of renewals and not in the mood to add to their portfolio.

Well, I am a buyer.

I have taken 4 names to Sedo from the marketplace in the last 4 weeks and have bid on them, winning two.

If there are quality names offered in the marketplace that suit my portfolio (mainly generic) I will bid on them or take the BIN. If they are good I will buy them and pay a price deserved of the name.

Problem is, there has really not been anything offered in the marketplace of generic quality compared to 9-12 months ago. I also believe many people, such as myself, have bought names and are not flipping them.

Also, as has been mentioned in the thread, it is renewal time, and people are more likely to dispose of their least desirable names rather than their better names to help pay for renewal fees.

Keep the market place open!

Sure things are hard to move in there the past few weeks and people are strapped or over extended. I got way over my head with names and I am trimming my names down for losses. It hurts but taught me a lesson. And also its a tough year for me and business and my personal life.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=463073

There are some nice names in the market place.

I believe things go in cycles and we will look back and reflect lol. Tons of cash is being spent on developments and platforms from what I hearing and reading. Maybe this year will be development, flipping in .tv is very hard to do.

Good point in above post on solid names still untaken. I buy that theory and been wondering this since Dec or so.

Hang tight everyone.

QUALITY names do get recognition in the .tv marketplace, some sell directly, some via Sedo. It seems the majority of posts are of sub-prime names and are worth less than reg fee.

I call anyone out in particular, but some of the .tv names people reg'd last year and are trying to dump are horrid and couldn't be given away.

Isn't the 9.99 godaddy rush coming up for renewal in a few months? Prices are never good for sellers when supply outweighs demand.

You are right many names are "horrid" and could not be given away, good names sell. But, it has nothing to do with supply and demand. NP is not a guage for this. Not all the buyers are here or any forum for that matter.

reg fees are due ....... it plays a big part , also unless i see a bargain i did promise myself .. no more names for now , if a name is not selling perhaps it's no good or just this is a limited market ? but nice to know it's here though , grateful for all options

I'm buying, but for the right quality name & at the right price. Problem is the quality of many of the names I see in the marketplace are names I wouldn't even reg if they were available.

I would have to agree, the quality of the names have not been exactly what there use to be to a certain extent.

The only problem I see with the marketplace is the "rules enforcement", because I see how guys with the same very bad names bump a lot without any problem and flood the marketplace with a lot of crappy names (everything is GEO, everything is premium).

This behaviour affects the reputation the .TV sub forum has on this market... and all the people involved.

If it weren't for the bumps, there wouldn't be any fresh threads in there. If you watch closely, there are MAYBE 1-2 actual new threads in there per day. Sometimes not even that.

Plus, if they don't bump and lower prices, the vultures can't swoop in.
