ChannelMe.tv is taking aim at the MySpace community. Nobody would acknowledge it, but my guess is that the decision to use TV.com stems from the fact that MySpace has little interest in raising any more awareness of the dot tv extension than it already receives. The more exposure of the dot tv extension the more likely someone may stumble upon ChannelMe.tv, which has the potential to capture a large part of the MySpace market IF it releases some powerful add-ons that users find easy to adopt.
However, in the long run I believe that all major video sites (including MYSPACETV) will need to adopt at least some .TV presence as the extension gains popularity Worldwide. The .TV domain seems to be taking root with the GenX and under crowd which is the largest segment of users on social networking sites.
Even if ChannelMe.tv completely revamped their entire website/interface (which is BADLY needed), I don't think MySpace users are likely to migrate to the ChannelMe.tv platform for a number of reasons. The biggest being the user's familiarity and comfort level using the current Myspace platform and sense of community.
It seems logical that branding MySpaceTV on the .TV domain would give MySpace both a solid .COM and .TV presence. They would basically be covering their bases and saying, "let's get it on".

Let's keep in mind that MySpaceTV is still in beta. The name could still change but I agree that they're competing with channelme.tv to some degree and by using the .tv extension they would be inadvertantly helping channelme.
Nonetheless, Myspace is one of the most powerful and visible brands/companies out there today and the use of the .tv extension in any capacity is good to see...
I agree with the fact that any site development on .TV helps ChannelMe.tv as well as all other .TV sites, by bringing new visitors to the .TV extension.
And Myspace certainly has a lot of muscle, and if they should decide to continue using MYSPACE.TV (in any way) it will help all .TV sites as a whole.
Let's go get'em .TV.......

Furthermore, IF myspace were to use .tv primarily, it could really BREAK OPEN the awareness of this extention. Very exciting.
MySpace is also launching their first TV series on November 11th. It's called quarterlife.com and has the same production cost and value as traditional network shows. It's also from the creators as "blood diamond," and "my so called life." so it'll be interesting to see how it's promoted within Myspace/MyspaceTV.
