Winner
.TV Domainer of the Year 2007
Hope the buyer knows the high renewal fee as otherwise it will be a major disappointment and a bad name for .tv.

Will assume the auction has given this information beforehand.

An interesting seller indeed

Who knows what the "actual" fee is considering he's one of the originals...

There must be something we are missing here, even if they got the 70% discount back in 2000 then they would still have paid $390k...

Can't work this one out at all.

Anyone?

i find it extremely hard to believe that anyone paid $1.2M for hot.tv for 20 years, given that for that amount of money they could have registered 50 grade A++++++ premium domains for five years.

We know that there is bugginess in Enom's system, maybe that is all it is...

Sams is a major player I would imagine he got the domain for free for helping the dot tv corp at the beginning there were no discounts back then. He was a major guy like IGAL and ELEQUA hence the 20 year registration. I just wonder why he sold for $35,000 when you read his bio $35,000 seems like it would mean very little to him if anything

What's it matter when IF it is accurate, doesn't mean anything until 2020?

Seems to me that there is more to the sale than him just selling for the money. His bio is incredibly impressive, and as connected as he is I wouldn't be surprised that something involving DM and .TV exposure at a major auction. Must be a coincidence the buyers id was "nobodyquinv"

Well, if it is accurate, would he not have to put down 1.2 million in cash to have the name regged until 2020........and then putting it up for auction and somone buys it for $35,000, they now have a name for free for 12 years and someone is out of pocket by $1,000.000 plus......

No way he put out 1.2 for it, and sold it for 35k with 12+ years left.

A. He didn't have 35k into it - IMO
and
B. To sell now, with 12+ years reg left, there is something going on behind the scene. Again - IMO.

I certainly agree something is not right!!!

The only answer I can think of that does not involve paranoid brain activity is the following:

A. The $62,500 per year search record that came up at the beginning of the week when some of us did a search on how much the premoium was for HOT.TV was totally wrong, a glitch , and rather, it was a regular reg fee like so many premiums were back in 2000............in which case, regging for 20 years at reg fee leaves a tidy profit when selling the name for $35k.......

Otherwise, assuming that the reg fee was in fact correct, $62,500, then if you regged for 20 years upfront , you would need to pay for 20 years upfront........1.2 million plus, in which case, my question comes back as to what the hell is going on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All this proves that chaos still reigns supreme in the premium pricing system....and no Mr Rhee........it is awful that there is no way to check for premium costs.......

Just to make your paranoid brain spin a little faster, don't you find it odd that a couple days before the auction the premium pricing look up disappears?
