I received an e-mail form an enduser today, they inquired about my domain, it said:
do you want to sell this domain and how much
FightChannel.TV
The email was from a smaller boxing union. The IBU, International Boxing Union. No offer, no nothing, just a simple email without a name attached. How much should I ask for this domain?
I bought it on the aftermarket. It was an expired name that I won. The very next day I got an offer for $500 that was later rescinded by the buyer (here at NP), I was unsure of selling anyway. Maybe the IBU owned the name before? Maybe they want to rebrand?
I would like some opinions! As always I rep people when I can!
Good advice. As an end-user, if they do want to use fightchannel as a commercial brand, you have one of the best alternatives. All the gtlds are regged, including mobi & fightchanneltv.com. The .com is a developed website - fighting bears no less. This gives you some leverege.
Also, I notice that IBU uses the term "fighters" instead of boxers on their homepage. Finally, there seems to be others interested in this word combo as its been trademarked a few times (although all are dead now). I think you're in a good positoin to be patient and let them show their hand first. Good Luck, CarryOn
I purchased this domain name as a long term investment with the belief and expectation that in a mature market it could be valued at over $25,000.
It was not my intention to sell the domain so early, however, as an investor, I welcome and I will consider any reasonable offer you may wish to tender.
Marlowe, I would take the actual name out of the thread as it can be easily searched, and ask everyone else to do the same.
I would doubt they are re-branding, but looking to either add broadcast or just cover the bases or inquiries. It really comes down to your desire to sell or not. I would not throw the first stone, rather simply explain that the name is for sale and that you are willing to review and negotiate a reasonable offer. MAYBE include a link to legit ".TV" sales on DNJ...
Say Wrestling.com sold for 500k, and that you'd consider reasonable offers

Now offering brokerage services for large domain transactions.
I appreciate your concern Lance, it is well taken. But... I sent exactly what I said:
Thank you for your interest about FightChannel.tv

So that way when they search for it on google they will see the exact same thing I emailed them. If an offer comes in I will be more discreet until its conclusion.
Good luck with it,
The fighting game seems to be forward thinking in its use of.tv so your in a good position, its a great name that covers the whole fight game not just the IBU so it is very valuable IMO,
will be interesting to see how interested they really are.
My guess, and this is only a guess, is that if it was the actual business itself, it would have gone on to explain about how IBS is tied to this and that, believes the name would benefit it this way.......basically what an end user would tell you.
Instead you got an offer of "tell use your best". That kind of short and sweet smells of broker or cheap cheap person. IF it is the actual enduser, then chances are good, that the price of 3000 is agreeable, or else their business plan is bad.
Or not. I have been proven wrong many times lately. Ask my wife.
