Premium is surprising. I would have said reg fee. don't see what trains has to do with tv. Can't see a site with train videos being very popular.

What is your plan?

The "S" is better.

Some folks collect trains - they spend their life savings buying models. Personally I see this name as the perfect "niche" name. I am not into trains but there is a whole generation of people with train infatuation LOL!

You really need to develop this name. Finding an enduser or selling it for enduser prices will be difficult IMO, unless you develop it. Because of its strong "niche" factor you could develop a strong following that comes back repeatedly.

Best of luck.

i also prefer it in the plural and I generally agree with Domain Acrobat's comments. it could be a nice niche site.

Much better with the "s" in my opinion,
and like the others have said, great potential to target and capture a niche audience.

So how do you intent to get your money back? Are you gonna develop a site with dvds of steam trains? IMO that is not lucrative. Or do you plan to sell it to seomeone who has a steam train dvd site?

The name is good of course but I don't know how you're gonna get the $500 back. Steam train dvds are not massive round here and are usually those dvds that sell at 50p each at factory shop outlets.

Good luck.

CarryOn will become famous soon enoughCarryOn will become famous soon enough
I like trains.tv - most definitely with the “s”, otherwise it might be confused with sports training. The question is how to best monetize it? As others have pointed out there is a huge interest in model trains (BTW - a couple months ago I regged modeltrains.TV so you can see where my thoughts are on the subject. Good OVT of 30k but nothing close to the 180k of trains)

But with the actual keyword trains you should consider a higher value proposition – the travel industry. Think about the romance of the Orient Express, the grandeur of Golden Pass through the Alps, or the bullet train from Tokyo to Kyoto. Much of the world still travels by train (excluding most of the USA).

Check out www.railwayjourneys.com for an idea of how to unlock the potential of your trains.tv. You could add videos of various routes and virtual tours of famous railway stations and then do tie-ins with rail companies and rail station terminus hotels. Lots of possibilities. CarryOn

I like carryon's idea about focussing on world wide railroad journeys, that would be a nice theme. Many years ago, I saw an advertisement for a six day journey around scotland, and I still think about making that trip someday, if I ever make it to Europe.

There are several game/toy merchants with affiliate programs, so the other focus would work as well.

Nice domain, gutsy move to reg premiums, but several premium sales have popped up lately, and it may pay off for you as well, once potential clients see where you are going.

Many of the train companies may be willing to provide video footage of their train as well as the specific tour they are promoting....

Well, well, I would prefer Train.tv, the singular version because it can serve a dual purpose. Train, as in Training, or Train, as in the vehicle.

Since you have the plural Trains.tv, still not bad as that is tight niche that you can really market to. You can nicely create videos, a store, a forum, classifieds for selling or trading, etc.

I also like the plural.

I like the train journey angle and would stream content showing most scenic train footage. And sell links from travel agencies and model train hobbiest (enthusists).

Also you might try the "training" aspect as in job training although it might be tougher to develop it might also be a larger market.

Agreed this may not be easy to get developed profitably very easily/quickly, but if you like the niche, and you are getting the right kind of overature traffic, I think it could be profitable.

simple:
If you're working on a TRAINS site, then TRAINS.TV is better.

In my case, I prefer TRAIN.TV because we are focusing on the word "train" as in "learn" so we bought: Train.TV

We also acquired Trainer.TV, but that's a different industry altogether.

good luck with your Trains.TV - great domain.
