So let's assume the whole channel thing takes off. Sooner or later there will need to be a guide to the whole thing. A place people will take a look to see what is on TV tonight. A guide.....which one would you want to, or which one would you most likely feel more comfortable with?
informationchannel.tv sounds better than the other two because it gives the appearance of carrying a more official or important message to it than the entertaining 411 or guide channels.
Personally, I think the amount of keystrokes one types on the keyboard or keypad is of no relevance in the .tv extension. Many of us seem to treat this new field in terms of .com and its minions. That is true in terms of appraisals for many as well as they seem to judge everything by .com. Kinda off-base in my opinion.

Generic isn't necessarily the number 1 option for this extension I don't think...unlike in the past with .com which you point out.
Sure at the moment for current resale it is most likely going to bring in the best returns, and sure some keyword generics are great but I think it is the branding of the name or what you do with it that makes .TV such an interesting market.
Take a decent name for example Wander.TV someone asked about earlier, not a bad name by any means, but gee with the right development targeted to the right market it is possibly a great .TV channel....
Having one less keystroke is really no big thing... but it is a point as keystrokes are relevant in any extension. A key part of the current appraisal matrix, in ALL extensions is the number of characters. Nothing "off-base" about that. Your post, and it's minion, reflects a forum trend that discards market intelligence in favor of clan bonding. IMO

I realize that there exist some basic principles in the field of marketing.
I also know there is more than one approach to market intelligence, and tweaking or adjusting techniques to fit a new concept is not necessarily discarding anything as this is in some ways a different type of marketing we are experiencing.
And as far as "clan bonding" is concerned, when is a door not a door?
A door is always a door. Open or closed. The sentence is a bit confusing... unless, by implication, your acknowledging 'closed door' clan bonding.
So I take it your saying I, or my thinking on keystrokes, makes me a .com minion? If that's the case, what is the master thinking?
Web 2.0 refers to application software going from the download model to being online/browser based applications. Yes, in a philosophical sense, it can be referred to as a "state of mind". It can be seen as an upgrade... for those on the "client side" (users), but it can also be seen as a downgrade by some "server-side" providers.

Your answer to the "door" riddle(yes, it was a riddle) as well as your analysis of Web 2. I appreciate both responses. I didn't think of "clan bonding" and to be honest with you still don't. I am just thinking of the near future, which, I assume, will surprise many, some pleasantly, some not so. I am looking forward to it as an exciting evolutionary process.
The minions I referred to was actually other .com-esque extensions, i.e. .net, .biz and the like, not the good people who use those extensions.
