hey .tv family- lets have a little chat... come on in :-)
i have been thinking. .tv is a wonderful extension- i am simply in love with it.
but lets face it- i am not going to get end user prices out of you guys- none of us are.
we had an auction- but, just namepros domainers came. so even some names sold- many good ones did not.
my thinking is- we need to reach more end users, right?
so- why not do "something" like this... have an auction- maybe set up a silent auction type thing- and well ahead of time promote the hell out of it together- i mean, who says moniker has to corner the market on mass auction style sales? we need more outside end users to come and see the names- so why not set up the names in a silent auction format for say 3 days- open it to the public- everyone who has a .tv site can promote it ON their site, we can also put it on our regular sites, ect.... make a big thing out of it!
it does NOT have to be complicated- but it seems most of the bigger sales come from the likes of sedo and such and that is because they have those outside viewers-
i dont know what do you think.... i am just trying to think outside the box- build this up- get some more sales to overall help the .tv energy....
I think it's a great idea!! You are right about there being some really good names in the auction that did not sell. We need to get more endusers viewing what we have!
Most NP's can see the domains we have in our sig's and links so if anyone of them was interested in any of mine I think I would have been contacted.
However, I am not knocking the .tv auction. I think it is still something we need from time to time.

Yeah, I agree. We need to promote the auction to end users to get more sales. However, I think most end users outside NP will prefer to bid on a system like sedo rather than in the live chat. Just a though...

oh i am not knocking it either! it was cool! but i think that if more of the public knew: hey, we have a concentrated amount of .tv names going up for an auction- hundreds of them- we might get a stir out of the public to come. maybe call it .TV Week- and all week people can buy names via a one week silent auction-

no not live- that would be crazy- a simple silent week long auction event!
it would be ULTRA cool if namepros sponsored it- this would be a nice feather in the cap after they were voted favorite forum :-) namepros could host and sponsor it- and, as we would to sedo, should pay a percent o sales to namepros for hosting it-
i think it is a win win situation-

I belive if we all sit down (chat room style that is) and gather all ideas we could make something happen..HOWEVER I would not like this to be rushed...
Traffic is in June and the next big Traffic auction I belive is in Oct. So to me if good .tv names DONT get sold in June, August seems the right time to have a HUGE .tv only auction.
Im sure some of the .tv major players could lend support as far as building a site dedicated to hosting a silent auction. Look at how Domainfest set up their auction site... http://auction.nicit.com/
I would really like this to take off and if we all meet via chat (in the middle due to time zones, work etc) we could pull this off....COUNT ME IN!

well, i agreee- we need to chat talk about it- i think the main thing here is timing, and simplicity- the minute you get too complicated- you have more ends that come undone- K.I.S.S. :-)

It is something that needs to be planned out we will schedule a chat for WED to talk about this I agree with whoever said an August silent auction makes sense IMO.

Kinda gives us time to really plan a LARGE turn out event. No offense to Domainfest (since I have names in that silent) but it seems traffic to their silent auction is like at night when you hear nothing but crickets and owls. I dont want this to be like that!

As far as I know silent auctions usually do not benefit the seller. So it depends on which side of the fence you are on and with .TV I see more on the selling side than buying side. Moniker's silent auctions are not even close to be as successful as there live auctions. Live auctions induce a rush that is unmatched. Interest is growing and this is a good topic for discussion. I think the current auction system EQ has in place really is the best route at this time. Until there is widespread acceptance, moving to a larger scale type auction I think will be futile whether silent or live. Things can change though. One year ago I would not have known half of those participating in discussion today and year before that some can say the same about me.......but we are here....and more will be here....

anytime wed equity- i am good whenever just about-
a long time ago, i ran a large womens network- we used to do online tradeshows for women- they were very successful- ran a full week- one of the things that made it "stand out" was during the whole week, there was a chat room set up along with the static shopping- and all week the vendors made a point to hang out in the chat, and talk to buyers- this went over fantastic- there was alot of buzz and excitiment, and there was a "live" element there as well-

i must be selling on a different planet- i usually get what i want and more on sedo, and have people nit-pick prices and try and constantly talk me down who come thru the sites- i cant afford it, i only wanted to pay half that, blah blah- i never get that with sedo-
