| To Develop or not to Develop - that is the question So, if Detroit.TV is worth $10,000 undeveloped. How much is it worth developed?
If DetroitMI.TV is worth $100 undeveloped. How much is it worth developed?
Would like to see others logic here. |

| developing doesnt necessarily change or increase the value. it all depends on how good the development is and how much traffic it gets. if you spent 6 figures developing it into something crazy and did massive marketing then it could be huge. if you just throw up a site in 20 minutes and leave it then the value probably wont change. if someone owned the name google.com or ebay.com in the early 90s and developed it into whatever with very little money then it probably wouldnt be worth the billions that it is right now. basically it all comes down to traffic. detroitmi.tv could be developed to the point that it is worth a lot more than detroit.tv. you could even develop a name like mydetroit365.tv so that it becomes worth 1 million dollars.

| I agree, however I'm sure someone will say that one developed site will raise the other's value (if one is developed and the other is not developed). |

| If we take a step back and answer this question from a .COM perspective we will have a better understanding what may come ahead. Let's take for example Detroit.com versus DetroitMI.com instead of the .tv counterpart. Clearly it would be Detroit.com with higher value. Why? It is because of natural type in traffic. Natural type in traffic is what inevitably establishes value in a domain by many standards. While linked traffic is great, that can be established even in a generic while the reverse is not true without huge branding dollars. Even today we witness many generic .Coms parked earning heavy revenue without any development whatsoever. The power of very little advertising and influx of thousands of visitors is a huge commodity. In time .TV will follow the same rule, imo as .COM and will be rewarded with type in traffic like which we see already is already starting to happen with certain generic keywords. So while one can in the short term brand or link or fill with content and develop a non generic in the long term they will have to complete with the natural traffic of the generic and any development upon it, imo. .TV has given many of us the opportunity to put a generic domain within financial reach. Regging secondary type domains away from the key generic is only an alternative option as seen for example of the literally thousands of .coms revolving around the keyword of Travel.com for example. As time goes on the gap between generic and nongeneric in the .TV space will become wider and wider.

| It entirely depends.....are you looking for traffic revenue, or looking to sell to an end user?
An end-user might have a completely different dev idea than yours so will not take any of that into consideration. Revenue generation alone takes a "product" so you will need to know what your target audience is.
For just a sale to a reseller----they will want to know both of these angles, but will likely put more emphasis on current revenue and traffic. |

| If you are developing with a site, with the intention of selling it, it would be best to have a link or state somewhere that the name may be available for purchase.
Can you imagine a prospective buyer checking out the various names, see yours ( which they like and are interested in ) only to find that it is already working as a site. In situations like this, they might just move on and begin looking for an alternative name.

| What is the objective for developing to resell or just run the site with no intention of selling the domain ? |
