| Preliminary analysis: Fundraising and developing sites to solicit donations have not been discussed much on the forum simply because we are entrepreneurs and capitalists looking to develop a project that becomes a cash cow. Nevertheless, I would assume a non-profit business entity would suit the business model you envision for this property. You would want to make sure you comply with the law so those who give you generous donations can take advantage of the tax laws. Incorporating fundraising and .tv could actually turn out to be a lot of fun. It may be easier to establish a site in the public interest like this and use its popularity to give exposure to some other site(s) via sponsorship, etc. Of course, if you promoted your own sites, then you might find them easier to attract a certain type of traffic.

This is merely a personal opinion based on my limited knowledge and experience, but you you have a great domain with a lot of potential.
Recommendation: Obviously, research the law and consult the right professionals when preparing this opportunity for development. It is imperative that you dot your i's and cross your t's before you move forward. At the very least, learn what opportunities you might lose if you do not comply with certain government formalities so you are making informed decisions along the way. Review what your .com counterpart is doing and do some market research on what motivates people to donate. Is it accessibility to a cause? Is it how much a particular cause resonates with them? Is it seeing how a cause benefits from the acts and or support of particular organization? The answers to these questions should infuse how you approach the development and marketing of the site.
