GOAL TV Scores Big in Asia

March 21, 2006 SHANGHAI– GOAL TV, Yes TV’s dedicated 24-hour football channel, says it will take advantage of the growing popularity of broadband TV to further boost its presence in Asia.

Tom Kressner, Chairman and Chief Executive of Yes TV, speaks highly of the potential of the Asian market at SPORTELAsia 2006, a major international sports television trade convention held here at the weekend.

“Asia boasts the highest broadband penetration in the world and its potential is vast,” Kressner said. “Yes TV recognizes the opportunity and has formed strategic partnerships with some of the biggest players in various local markets, to deploy broadcast platforms with local and regional content.”

Yes TV has already established itself as a major IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) solutions provider as well as content provider in Asia. It enjoys a strong regional presence, with 18 million viewers in 14 countries and territories.

Kressner says GOAL TV now looks set to cash in and become the premier sports network in the region, thanks to the popularity of quality sports programming among the Asian audience. “GOAL TV already has a strong following in China and India. We are now moving rapidly into new markets, including Vietnam, Cambodia, Taiwan, the Philippines and Pakistan. The sky’s the limit when it comes to GOAL TV’s growth potential.”
GOAL TV holds exclusive Asian TV and broadband rights for four leading English Premier club channels: Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal. It also offers live coverage of French, Dutch and Scottish league matches. GOAL TV is currently seen in Shanghai on broadband at SMGBB.cn. It has also set up an accompanying interactive website, www.goal.tv, offering news, analysis, and betting and community information, all at the fingertips of the viewers.“In a football match, a good team plays to win and scores early and often. That’s exactly what GOAL TV is all about as well,” Kressner said.
