Have not asked our board experts here for an appraisal in a long time, so I will ask for one now on a group of foreign names....so we need to take into account not only the strength of the keyword but also the language its in!!!
All opinions welcome and appreciated.
FRENCH - MODELS.TV, BOXING.TV, JEWELLARY.TV TODAY.TV DOGS.TV
SPANISH - SKI.TV TATTOO.TV EMERGENCY.TV CHEF.TV
GERMAN - ALCOHOL.TV EIGHT.TV
ITALIAN - TRAFFIC.TV
Yes, I've seen some in Miller's sig,
but it would help if you could post the real foreign terms you own, Millers
For the french you own, I'm quite sure the traffic si very low...
Based on my experience with french words in other tlds, It seems that the french-speaking people are not so much "type-in" oriented. That's why I didn't invested in french .TVs (and my mother language is French) but I could be wrong ;o)
Argos's point of view would be interesting...

aujourdhui.tv -> sounds good, but correct is aujourd'hui, which shows how complex french is... How would the french people type in this kind of address?
But a good point is that .info and .biz are held by a parisian newspaper...
chiens.tv -> sorry, no idea about this...
bijouterie.tv -> this could be a homeshopping channel dedicated to... hum... bijoux (jewels)
boxe.tv -> "sport"+.tv is always nice IMHO, but so as I told you before, I don't think that french speaking people type in "naturally" a term + an extension (even a .com) so much as english or german speaking people...
They only go on well established websites and most of french people don't have a good opinion of domaining, and parked pages where in other countries it is well tolerated. The best example to show you the french point of view regarding the domaining, is the restrictions to reg a .fr...
modeles.tv -> no idea... ah yes, just one, to be correct, you will also need the IDN version: modèles.tv... but this is another story
acht.tv -> I watch frequently german television, but there's no mention of a channel called acht or a 8th channel, so sorry, I don't really see a value in this name, but I could be wrong: I think I remember that you get nice traffic and clicks
alkohol.tv -> I like it... it is good that all other main tlds are taken but unfortunately, no one is developped.
.fr has no longer restrictions (since 20 June 06), any adult with a valid address in France can register a .fr.
As for IDN and French type in, remember that about 70% of Internet is English speaking, France is the 7th internet language. Most French sites do not use IDNs as their main address, the reason is obvious. Even names like Crédit.fr or Prêt.fr (loan) are in fact Credit.fr and Pret.fr
You're right but in comparison to .be or .es, isn't the need of a valid address in France a kind of restriction?
O.K., you can reg them... but not me
Absolutely! But in my case, I regged last year the normal version of a french word, and his IDN, because there was this doubt with the release of IE7... But I don't think I would do it again (waste of money?)
www.WAT.tvwww.VODEO.tvwww.JET.tv
Yes, great sites and use of .tv...
and I must admit this is impressive: The best parts of Wat.TV are broadcasted on a real TV Channel (Watcast on TF1)!
I have mediacenter.tv which gets +/- 35 hits per month and half of it from Italy. It was maybe an italian developed website before...
I do get about 50 hits a day on IT.TV, of which about 36% on average come from Italy...........maybe a name like IT.TV is such a relevant name to Italy that it gets daily hits......but I agree, if I was to compare it to DE.TV, which I co-own, it gets between 200/400 hits a day, most of which are coming from Germany, so there is this huge difference.......
WHich is why I only bought one name i Italian, and having been to Italy on holiday numerous times, the only thing I could remember that was negative there was the horrible traffic situation whereever we went.......so I know the subject matter will be ok once it does take off!!!
Thanks Argos for your analysis.........much appreciated
Thanks Sanch
