Yes, I'm back for a minute. Lots of back room discussions (most at 2AM EST when I should be in bed) going on about the Geo .TVs. My impression is that the Geo .TV aftermarket window is closed. I think Poodleman swept up the remaining Geos this week. A couple things remain in the lower end, but nothing in the top 150 cities or top 100 MSAs.
Most of the Tier 1 Geos are in the hands of end users or folks want to hold them.
Our final purchases were:
MyrtleBeach.tv
Sarasota.tv (to go with Bradenton.tv)
Daytona.tv
StLouis.tv
Knoxville.tv
Stockton.tv
Tacoma.tv
DesMoines.tv
Chesapeake.tv (3rd largest city in Virginia)
Hialeah.tv
We are now down to a battle of the dueling GEO .TV networks.
but I think it is akin to a bunch of soccer moms. One soccer mom doesn't compete against the others, but they sit around all day trying to look better than the others moms in their inner circle (having cosmetic surgery, etc) so can feel good about themselves.
Congrats on your purchases. I had my eye on MyrtleBeach.tv for some time and got beat on the drop on it by someone here Can't remember who.
I almost bid on it in the silent auction in Miami and regret not doing so now.
I am very interested in any Geo TV development efforts and would love to participate.
I think George may have been referring to any other GEO neworks that own a variation of the same name geo.......whomever has the generic has the advantage for sure, but a company that puts MYXXX.TV in front of every geo will be developing the same turf, and if the concept is good, it can not only be competition - it can beat the competition........
Correct, for example a site like impel.TV has Geos.
Having won another space with the worst domain name in history, I can tell you the domain name makes your job easier (due to branding advantage), but you can win the game with MyDetroit.tv if your business model is superior.
That means if you are the most effective at acquiring, monetizing, and holding your traffic.
And yes, you can take that to mean, that even if we don't have a domain name (for example Atlanta.tv) or partnership, it will not deter me from entering that market with an alternative domain name.
We are a nationwide company with a nationwide user base. I can't orphan my Atlanta users because I can't buy Atlanta.tv.
We would like to partner with you guys to monetize these names. We have a nice video portal up and running, ready to replicate. We have 6 revenue streams built into the site/channels and it is written to move to the TV as the hardware comes on the market to do so.
If you guys have a good name and you want to work it, let's partner. We will 0 out the risk for you. We just want to make money and we understand the concept of 50% of something. We use dedicated servers at GoDaddy and the whole thing is extremely scalable.
If you worried about not being able to sell it (your domain name) if its tied up doing something, we will move the content you collect to another channel. You might find that you can make more using the domain than the few thousand that it will bring over time by reselling it to an end user? You might even just sell your whole channel? We will support your buyer.
Good luck with whatever you guys decide to do with your names. It sure looks like the users of these forums RULE the .tv world, at least with respect to names.
got some pending .TV in progress.. and I still see more cities/state available
Good to see you here C.T. Kirkpatrick
Best regards,
Em

it could work, but there is ALOT of competition and you won't get immediate SEO benefits of a direct hit like newyork.tv.
You would need to "rent" your advertisers since most local advertisers tend to be small business owners and unless you want to have large sales or customer service team it would be hard to get nationwide coverage.
Nobody own it. In fact, if you go to uspto.gov some companies registered fairfax but no one pertaining to a city.
Well see, I have my lawyers ready to register our own Fairfax.TV trademarks as well.

No offense dave, but this Q and A seems a little "set up".
Plus from your site: Channels start at $295US Setup and $1200US per year
Why on earth would I feel compelled to pay you this when I can get basically the same thing at Me.tv for $25? Or do it myself for a lot less then what you are asking.
What I was saying dave was that the random "lurker" who popped up out of nowhere to post 5 questions that you had very good answers to seemed a bit like a set up.
You yourself, although you may have been around a long time, are also relatively new to namepros and this section. You never said anything about "free" you only said "partner with".
I was interested so I went and I looked at your stuff. The first thing that hit me was the price, the second was that it looks a lot like every other script out there, and that I could easily just stick with me.tv tools that is free, except for the price of the name itself, and that is rolling out revenue sharing.
So I am skeptical of what you are offering and want to see more information. You as a seller should be able to provide more details rather than a lot of hype. Hype I can get from me.tv
No offense, you just didn't explain what you are proposing in a clear enough fashion.
