Hi there,
just purchased a premium domain name "beijing dot tv" from another guy,
I am happy with it though it cost me $X,XXX and is a $500 per year name...
Great purchase/investment. I missed this fantastic city name a couple of years ago. Needless to point out booming of the economy, Chinese tech development, the incredible modernization of Beijing, your name benefits as well from the 2008 Olympic project. Best of luck with it Fleaking.
Great name, with obvious potential. Nice. Great investment.
Be great to see a web cam feeds up there one day. I'm certain I'm not the only one who would love to watch the rapid growth and modernization of China from the comfort of my Aeron chair.
I don't think so. Don't forget it is $500/year. I think .tv is only suitable to television related website. But in China, public media is strictly regulated.
You can find btv.tv is available for registration for $750/year. Web portal of Beijing television station is www.btv.com.cn.
Lots of Beijing related searches every month, including travel, flight, hotel, tour, restaurant, opera, map, university..... so the traffic is there for you to get.
How you bundle interactive media into that mix, well, I'm not sure. But a decent name, nonetheless.
Well, I never heard of btv.com.cn, and I think there are still lots of possibilities for the use of .tv domains beside television companies such as travel guide, local culture videos.....and so on.
1/ .tv is suitable for any interactive multimedia, video oriented sites, not just "public media"
2/ Particularly given that it is an English name, the key market is foreigners/tourists/etc, not Chinese, taking censorship issues off the table
3/ Multimedia sites are very expensive to develop, acquire content for, etc. If he has money to build a site like that, then $500/year is not a big deal. If the $500/year is a large cost for him, then he is not the guy to develop it...
