Hand regged it today. What do you guys think?

Will mostly develop it in the near future because I am a developer

Well as a developer, you probably know that there are 3 main factors that may influence value, which is totally subjective:

1) Quantity of organic targeted traffic
2) Current Revenue/Net Income
3) Best use for a potential end-user

It would be impossible for me to begin to speculate on what a domain like this is worth without understanding the tie industry better, people's search habits, whether people buy ties online or just browse, industry margins, etc.

Its a great pickup for a hand-reg and should generate more than a satisfactory return on investment even if you did nothing with it.

Adwords' keyword tool shows well over 2 million monthly searches so a well-developed site certainly has great traffic potential. The domain is an important factor in SE positioning but development will have to go beyond a minisite. There are some 76 million web pages with the word "ties" and only ten make it to the first page. Depending on your interest in developing the domain it might be easier to market it to buyers than position it on page one of Google. Best of luck.

I am experienced in SEO but as you say it may be very difficult with 70,000,000 other results to beat. I can't afford whole sale or dropshipping so I am thinking of developing a unique seo optimized website, which uses the Amazon API in order to sell products. I would give the impression of purchasing through my site but in fact they would be purchasing through Amazon. It seems the most cost effective approach for me at the moment as I don't have anything to invest in this.

I think your idea to develop an affiliate site is a good one.

I was keen, but at $300 Im not that keen.. If I was an enduser, I might think it was worth that though.. not sure.
