My suggestion would be to pick 2 or 3 of the best one-word domains dropping each day, and to stay away from word combinations unless you have plans to develop.

thanks all, I think we will agree to disagree on this one, I think Car/Bike/Boat related names will be valuable later on, especially generic terms like these

These are regged in all other extensions and there are endless end-users opportunities
There is a strong argument for one word domains at this stage as they generally tend to be searched more. While no where near the obvious quality of something like Cars.tv, it is still something that might be of interest to a dealer who is thinking about putting their inventory online. It is short enough and recognizable enough to be able to be reinforced with branding, without starting from scratch.
BudgetCar is more searched than CarLot, but is more risky and therefore limited from an end user standpoint due to the potential of similarity/confusion with "Budget Car Rentals".
CarLot.tv strikes me as being fairly intuitive though. Vehicle sales in general, due to the higher price of the item and the concept of the virtual test drive, seem better suited for the TV extension than a lot of other items.
I think that it is safe to say, that when purchasing a vehicle or other high ticket item over the internet, the buyer is going to need a lot more information (including visual information) than they would for something like a book or gardening tool.
I wouldn't say that its DOA, but I think there are better picks available at this point in the game. On the other hand, there are a lot of car lots out there, many who advertise on television, so potential for finding an end user is fair. If you can convince them that taking the name will make them synonymous with car lot on the internet, you may have a shot, especially if they want to capitalize on non-local markets and aren't too wrapped up in building their unique dealership identity. This is likely to be more true of a used car dealer than a new car dealer.
You get in a pinch and can talk fast, you could probably use the domain name for a trade-in
yes i did say Bikeparts.tv was nice & Car, Bike & Boating domains go great with it.
BUT
Only if they have the right keyword combinations:
Bike+Parts go together great as people go online looking for Bike parts, they search for the exact phrase 'Bike Parts' so it makes sense & there is traffic to benefit from.
I doubt many people search for 'Car Lot' & the 2 words together dont really work as a domain to me.
Budget Car is slightly better IMHO but still not great, plural would be better also.
All purely my opinion of course, if you feel you can convince end users to plough cash into these then great.
