Some "geo + channel" TVs

It's time to renew and I have to decide whether these ones deserve it:

honoluluchannel(.)TV
connecticutchannel(.)TV
massachusettschannel(.)TV
pennsylvaniachannel(.)TV
southcarolinachannel(.)TV

Any potential value here or should I let 'em go?

The simpler question is, does anyone see any reason to renew these? I picked them up for cheap - about 4 bucks each - with the idea they might make decent mini-sites. But I have many other higher priority projects so it will be months at best before I get around to this.

My feeling is the "channel" gives them some potential as state-specific social networking sites, or multimedia news sites. But developing them as such is probably more work and more of a gamble than I need right now.

So I will let them expire - unless maybe someone sees some value here that I'm missing...

Protect Our Planet
Ken,
I'd keep these names for a year or two.

99% of Geo.TV names (especially U.S Geo.tv names) are Premiums, and most of them are not available.

Few of them left at $10,000 - $50,000/Yr.

______Channel.TV names are the next attractive option, and you may hold them for as many years as you like at the normal renewal fee.

All the best!

Thank you .tv. Very interesting perspective. The idea being with or w/out development the domains may be worth something if & when dot TV takes off.

Other views?

I hope I'm wrong but I think you would be better dropping them - and it's maths, not sentiment or intuition that makes me think so.

Too renew the five 'inferior' (and I consider geoCHANNEL names inferior to pure geo names) names for the next five years may cost (at Godaddy today $29) a total of $725.

If you didn't renew but instead went and used that $725 on a shorter, more apt geo in the marketplace here - you might get a good name for $500. You could then use the extra $225 to renew and possibly 'by-hand' develop (ie you build the internet tv site yourself).

In the marketplace recently we've seen some good pure geo names go through at low prices. No add ons of 'channel' 'site' 'news' etc. These are what will always be seen as the 'real deal' no geo+add-on.

The pure geo names are immediately sale-able and develop-able, however, the geo channel, news, site etc names may need quite some time for the market to reach that point of maturity for them to have any decent value. And even by that time, the pure geos would have increased in value substantially more.

have u considered that any respectable pure geo .tv would have high premium renewals which are much higher than a standard reg? You cant compare the two, GeoGenerics are a totally different niche than pure Geo's.

Is this to say you would keep/renew them? Do you think they will be worth a 3-5 year investment (in renewal fees)?

Has anyone had much luck putting mini-sites on domains like these? If I could make $2-3/month each they would pay for themselves.

This is not always the case.

I bought a major location in the UK a few days ago without ANY PREMIUM.

There are hundreds of non-premium pure geo.tv.

Well I'm just trying to imply that Geo Genercis and Pure Geo Domains are two different things.

Its like comparing a connecticut "two worder" to lets a say a less known state / township "one worder". Both are totally different. Why compare the two at all? You might as well use the money you wouldnt spend on the geo generic on say LLL.nets or a generic two worder?

But if you look at the geo generic, channel is a very relevant word. I think they are above average domains for sure, and I would keep them another year. For me TV domains are basically "video" / "dynamic media" domains. "Channel" fits the description there.

Just my opinion there Jimbo, way to a healthy discussion, nothing else
