The name presents a challenge but that does not mean it is bad. Development and marketing is key. Package deals - hotel and air(or rail). Could be for an ideal names for a travel agency.
Could be 'package deals' with regards to internet channel selection ie like satellite tv providers put together. If we all have to pay for certain tv links in the future (which is more than likely) then this could sell those. Might be a reach but the best I could come up with. Good luck.
Get yourself a greenscreen, sound equipment, a couple of lights and a camera. Then get some editing software for your computer.
Pick yourself a territory. ie Australia
Contact EVERY holiday company who operates in your territory. Obtain from them their own ads about their own products.
One day every week, contact every one of these travel companies and find out what their best 'package' offers are.
Armed with information and footage you then offer a short internet TV show which informs the viewer about the best 'travel package' offers of the week with relevant links to each of these offers below the screen.
If the idea builds up, start doing it twice weekly, if it gets bigger, do it every day. If it gets really bIG find yourself other territories.
If you are a rubbish presenter, get someone else to do it. Better still get a local, photogenic and personable, travel agent to do it for you (or in partnership with you).
The click through will determine any money you could make or, using a travel agent, the actual commission they get from the purchased package minus your share.
LastMinute.com started in a very similar way - except they didn't have the opportunity to show the holiday in a televisual, and very enticing way.
Just an idea - but really not rocket science.
If it works, enjoy. If it doesn't, start again with satellite, telephone, computer package deals.
excellent post mate, a fantasic idea....I may look into it actually, will have to speak to the missus about it first, but I have always been a "jump up and do it" kinda person, dont think about it too much or you wont do it.
My wife's quite a "looker", I could get her to do the presenting
I was also thinking of doing it via a wireless laptop on a roadtrip around OZ, would have a good effect filming each episode from different little camping and outback locations around Oz. I have wanted to travel around Oz and this way you could get a few $$ to help finance the trip, just another idea
Could I have some suggestions or ideas from the pros on the best methods/processes to run something like this.
My brother in law is a documentary maker/movie producer in Sydney and he is keen to jump on board and offer some finance for something like this.
He has a mate who runs this site - mycitylifestyle.tv and he spoke to the guy about the setup process and teething problems he encountered and he replied with this
So the question is now which model or is there a better way? and whether there is potential to make some money out of it.
Any comments on running with this would be appreciated???
