they are signed up on this forum now, so i suppose if they want to comment on it themselves ill let em.

but i believe they renewed most of theirs, like 5 days before they were set to expire... not all were renewed but id guess at least 80% of them from what i saw in whois.

I am a bit disappointed. The link you posted for DNFinder had a program demo with a TROJAN embedded.

its possible Vista or XP is just seeing it as a trojan... what exactly happened?

I would imagine there is loads of different buyouts that won't hold over the next 12 months. Will be interesting to watch.

i would consider this one of the flimsiest buyouts.. one guy bought/owns about 5,500 NNNN.mobi and they currently have an extremely low aftermarket value for a good majority of them. i would almost say at this point most are worth $0 on the 'domainer aftermarket'...

Trojan issue

I was loading the program and McAfee listed a Trojan. I oignored it and loaded the program. I am going to run a scan and see if it comes up a Trojan now that the program has loaded.

This was in the DEMO.

Depends on the owner's goals. And, of course, depends on how one sees the potential of .Mobi.

If one guy owns 5500+ NNNN.mobis then he owns over half the supply. IF in a few years .mobi is popular in Asia then there will be a lot of demand for numeric .mobis and he would be in a position to sell them to end-users for $$$$ each - one at a time. Remember there are no languages or IDNs for numbers.

So it would be a long term investment with recurring costs (renewals) and payouts beginning on a rather small scale in, say, three years. If .Mobi gains, say, 1/3 of the new mobile market (new mobile-centered sites, not copies of existing .coms) then he will, in about ten years, have an enormously profitable investment.

For that plan to work though he should be buying now - at least the Asia-friendly numbers. The drops were a cross section of what was available towards the end of the buyout - it does not look like care was taken to drop the worst ones. Even so, opportunities to control a significant segment of a potential powerhouse (***he dodges deftly the thrown fruit***) are difficult to come by.

All investment involves risk - and nobody knows the future, despite how much assurance they write in their words. Mobi is speculation, nobody denys that. The risks are greater but the potential for reward is also greater.

well, almost a month later and now there are only 967 NNNN available.

this is one .mobi prediction i got wrong... the availability count seems to be going down rather than up as high and as fast as i thought it would by mid-July.

alright, its been 4 months so its about time for an update... there are now 1,072 NNNN.mobi available.

i would have thought there would be a couple thousand available by now... instead some appear to be getting re-registered when they drop. interesting...
