RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution)

Hi guys a long long time ago i started a thread urging people in the landrush to aquire charity names to donate when they eventually catch on! My chosen charity was the RNLI, being a very maritime orienated person, being ex coastguard, ex royal navy and an ex commerical share fisherman. These guys supply boats, equipment and train volunteers to go and rescue their fellow mariners in distress! A completely free service, run purely with donations from the British public!

So after a few emails to the RNLI to say i have their .mobi regged and safe for them, come and get it! I gave up as if they weren't interested, then a few weeks ago i received an email from them stating that they would love to aquire the domain name to start working on a mobile site for the RNLI!

Now this is very good news and a potential gold mine for them! Just imagine whenever the lifeboat is called out, and the 2 maroons explode in the sky, you can whip out your mobile stick in rnli.mobi to see why they are launching! Then as it's a charity have some sort of donate 10p press here button where your mobile can get billed for the donation!! These guys really do spend alot on advertisments! So look out for the mobi mentions!!!!! Hee hee!

So keep your eyes peeled fingers crossed it'll be here soon! But for now i still have the domain and it hasn't changed hands yet! But i'm sure when it arrives the mobi site will be ground breaking and shit hot! Just look at their 'normal website' link supplied below!!!!

Excellent Aggie. I did a similar thing but with the NSRI which is the National Sea Rescue Institute. That is in South Africa. It's the same set-up as the UK one and is in fact based on it. Here is their site. http://www.nsri.co.za/ Please have a look as you as an ex-sea rescue chap will find it interesting. Anyway I did not reg NSRI.mobi but did send the NSRI an e-mail explaining the .Mobi domain and giving them links to Mtld and other info. I urged them to register the .Mobi but up till now I have heard nothing from them and the NSRI.mobi domain is still unregistered.

Hi all, yeah i knew if i left it unregged someone would have squatted on it, so i thought the best way round it was to reg it then send them an email! I forgot all about it in the end until i received the email! I will check out the NSRI website, but i guess the RNLI have realised the value of such a domain name could be to them! Took them long enough!!! lol! Won't be long until the NSRI follow suit!

Normally, when you 'save' a name like this it ends up backfiring - so it's really nice to know this had a happy ending.
