Big Buzz In Europe about iphone. sites

Here in Europe there are lots of sites and forums now which focus on iPhone.
Here is a big Dutch mobile web starting page with lots of mobile sites but only a few .mobi's:http://www.mobielstartpagina.nl/NEW_SITE/
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/dot-mobi/479151-big-buzz-europe-about-iphone-sites.html
There's lots of promoting of sites specially created for iPhone. (iphone.sites) No-one seems to be aware of .mobi I feel .mobi must get their message out now before it's too late. No-one wants to be late at the party do they?
I posted some .mobi links on this iPhone forum: Look at bottom of page.

Some more iPhone sites which talk a lot about sites for iphone but not .mobi:

You crack me up Binary.... Seriously though. A mobile developer builds sites based on the prevailing platform. IPhone is going to be very popular so web developers are going to migrate towards this platform.

.Mobi is not a "platform", but simply a way to get to whatever site address is entered. So the notion iPhone will have an adverse effect on .mobi is simply not logical since they perform different functions.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=479151

Therefore, the more Iphone sites out there the better. The more mobile content out there means that we will need more decent web addresses.

Is .mobi a decent address?

I think so, and I only own one .mobi domain name. They are good for marketing purposes. If you remember back to 1995 when Amazon.com came on the scene. They purposely kept the .com in their official name so as to alert potential customers they were "internet Pure Plays". That was important because back in 1995 if someone were to hear "Amazon Bookstore", they would have been looking for it at their local mall instead of via their computer. In this case the .com "alerted" the consumer Amazon.com could be FOUND on the internet. What do you suppose a .mobi will do?

Oh, and even if re-rerouting software becomes commonplace, it still doesn't effect .mobi in that mobile website owners will still have to market their sites. Will they use .com names? Sure, but if I want to let people know, I am a "mobile pure play" website, I'm going with .mobi.. bottomline...

So... Don't worry about the "iPhone"... Embrace it.

Thanks for that very informative feedback Izo. I appreciate it. That's cleared up a lot of confusion.
