Today I saw the iPhone in action for the first time. A college of mine has bought an iPhone and he showed it to us at work today. It‘s definitely an amazing piece of technology! I think it is the most user friendly phone for handling non mobile conform websites. The first link he entered in the browser was a “normal” website (wikipedia.org). It took quit some time to download. Even though scrolling and zooming is easy with the iPhone it was not easy to read the content. After that I gave him some .mobi sites to enter. His comment after seeing the speed and format of .mobi sites was: “ I have to make a link folder with useful .mobi websites”. I told him that I would send him an email with the best .mobi sites, so he can enjoy the mobile web experience on his iPhone. It would be great if you could list your favorite .mobi websites so I can send him a really nice list, which he might send to some else and so on.... Pass the word: “ dotMobi is the future!”.

gzip would help, but then again, carriers need to upgrade their networks or use mobi!

All web apps on Apple's iPhone showcase are stripped down sites specifically tailered to mobile site, that is exactly what .mobi is trying to do.

Not really, in the UK most new phones are 3G or 3.5G - the iphone is still using the slooooooow GPRS.

Try stuff on say the nokia n series to get a better picture
