You have to submit your site first and they will pick, but honestly I don't know how the process works. They acted very quickly, I submitted the site on 4/21, they displayed it on 4/22.

Considering how some people were saying that iPhone will kill the mobi extension, this is a great news that indeed, regardless of TLD extensions, you CAN and WILL make money, if you find the right "niche"!

Actually there are more than one .mobi site displayed at iPhone's web app showcase.

Also when you look at all the web sites displayed at iPhone's web app showcase, whether it is a .mobi or not, you can clearly see that all the sites are tailer-made for iPhone, all are stripped down sites. Not a single full blown web site is there. This is exactly what .mobi is trying to do, i.e. to create a web site specific to mobile device. iPhone proves it is the way to go. Not full web site but mobile web site with no scrolling and no zooming is the future for mobile browsing.

Thanks again for all your compliment. It is true that more and more .mobi sites were added to the Apple's iphone web showcase. And if you look at all web sites showed there, they are all tailered to mobile device (iPhone in this case), you can not find a single full web site in Apple's showcase. All in all, you would do better if you design your site specific for mobile devices.

The site got about 600 unique visitors each day when it was first listed, then it came down a little bit, now it is about 300 unique visitors per day.

You can find the cheapest gas along interstate highways with your mobile

A new feature has been added to iTravel.mobi so that people can use their mobile device to find the lowest price gasoline and the direction to that gas station along interstate highways. It will save you a few bucks next time when you fill up your gas tank. Enjoy.
