'Mobi' Being Used More Often for the word Mobile

Has anyone else noticed how often 'Mobi' is being used instead of the word 'Mobile'? Of course its happening as a result of the domain extension dotmobi but I'm seeing it in dotcom names now where I had never noticed it before.

Is this a new short slang for mobile or was it being used all the time before the dotmobi extension? I don't recall seeing it before. Comments?

It's simply not happening (or will it ever happen), IMHO.
-Jeff

PS. Added after seeing Seanboy's silly (I'm taking out the word "silly" here, because I know he didn't mean it in the way I took it ... upon further review, IMHO) comment below ... I've never - not once - purchased any "dot mobey" domains on the aftermarket (despite my few, select bids/offers for low $xx - $Xxx for LLL's (which would be the only type of investment that I'd make - for myself or my client's - in this risky, unnecessary, and unproven extension), IMHO.
Please PM me directly for further details!

PPS. For Hawkeye, yes ... I agree ... you're being immature and entirely subjective!
And, you're taking both Seanboy's and my (partial) quotes out of context ... in order to, once again, further your own .MOBI AGENDA™!
Please PM me directly for further discussion!

PPPS. Yes, Seanboy ... for myself (and/or a few clients, at their request) I have and would be willing to bid/offer $Xx - Low $Xxx for select LLL .mobi's (only), IMHO. Again, I have not purchased any "dot mobey" domains on the aftermarket at this time of writing!
Please PM directly if you have any to offer and / or to discuss further!
Thank you (and PM sent, as well)! Peace.

I've heard of "mobe" as slang for mobile, but mainly restricted to one site:

he he, funny how those that want to see .mobi fail, are pushing the term 'mobi' in their 'must be only .com' regging lately.

We'll thank them in a few more years, ...when mobi is mainstream!

"...and 'they' helped." (spoken in a southern accent.)

You'll never convince the naysayers. Funny thing is I see them
bidding on mobis routinely here at NP. They must just like to
throw their money away

Ok what the heck, here's a few... mobimaza.com, mobimasti.com

Uhhh, Jeff, and I'm being subjective and open here -

Upon reading seanboy's post, he states that you 'continue to make offers', and you call his post 'silly'. Yet, in your reply post you note - 'despite my few, select bids/offers'.

Is there a such a difference between his 'to make offers' and your 'select bids/offers' that you needed to criticize him??
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=433956

Unless you can give us a reasonable justification for this, I just see this as intentional flamming, and brought on by you. Would we be wrong on this??

Just to explain....my reason for starting this thread was not to discuss the relevance of dotmobi extensions in the domain world but rather to point out the trend of using the 'mobi' word in place of 'mobile' or 'portable'....especially when registering dotcom domain names. This seems to be a growing trend and I was wondering how many others had noticed this and perhaps wanted to comment on it.

In the UK the term 'mobi' is used all the time for slang for 'mobile phone'. Has been ever since I bought my first one circa 1990.

So it's not as a result of the extension.

But what Jess said above...

It's a legit discussion nstalk. What the heck is going on here? Jeff is back and in rare form? Starting fights and picking at people's opinions?
