![]() ![]() ![]() | Google said what!? 'outpace fixed internet' 'several years' http://www.appleinsider.com/articles...rch_giant.html Read it & weep naysayers! This is astonishing news... it demonstrates that those wanting to surf are currently buying the iphone because there is no real competition (yet) It also demonstrates that give the tools (i.e. the handsets) that people will surf the web 'on the move' I just wish Jeff could post his comments on this one ;-) |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I've increased the frequency of browsing web on my phone (through wifi mostly) ever since the upgrade to HTC Touch. Although I don't see .mobi in the article posted, I agree with it that the mobile web will become big. I've read comments from "naysayers", and I don't believe that they think the mobile web will not become big. Like what -NC- has pointed out, the question is whether .mobi will become big or not. We see some companies adopting .mobi to present their site in mobile format. ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/dot-mobi/432800-google-said-what-outpace-fixed-internet.html However, we also see companies using m.companywebsite.com or just automatically redirect to mobile version. We have to also realize the technological breakthrough in mobile web browsers and ever developing cell phone tech. There are mobile browsers that will automatically format any website on the web into a way that can be viewed on mobile phone. Furthermore, phones like HTC Touch, iphone, LG Voyager and others can view any website (also becoming less costly to buy). Even the data plans are becoming cheaper. This will help increase the number of people who will surf web on their phone. Since some big companies are adopting .mobi and the number of developed .mobi are increasing, I don't think .mobi will fade away. IMO, both .mobi and better mobile browser/phone/data plan will be used.
