Google phone coming ??

It looks like Dell and Google may be partnered up for a new Android based Google phone.

http://www.news.com/8301-10784_3-986...g=2547-1_3-0-5

Lets's see...........

Google partners with the mobi extension.......

Google develops Android software.......

Google builds and tests a small beta network......

Google develops advertising for mobile.........

Google develops maps and other tools.........

Google ponders the cost difference between what consumers want and need.......

Google bids on bandspace......(current bids at 8.66 Billion)

Google partners with Dell for new phone.......

Google predicts the "re-creation" of the internet this year..........

Perhaps, I am mistaken but I see a trend here. It sure would appear that Google plans to circumvent all the problems and turf squabbles with service providers, and will provide their own "in house" solution.

A Google Net, using a Google phone, populated by mobi sites, paid by Google advertising.

The possibilites for Google would be immense. Forget Messenger programs. All the Google phones would be tied together on a Google social site. Forget Facebook sites. All the Google phones would be tied together with a Google site. Forget other video download sites. Google has Youtube. Add in some music sites, download sites, news sites, stock quotes, and a few hundred thousand mobi sites and we have the new "re-created" internet.

Interesting year ahead.

Then again, perhaps Google is just doing all this for something to keep busy.

I read the article, but I couldn't find .mobi in it.

As some of you probably know, google has its own mobilizer (converts any website into a mobile format).

-> may be totally unrelated to google phone <-
My guess is that google may put "mobilize web" link option below each searched link and make .mobi a priority in the search list (if there becomes enough developed .mobi sites to justify them doing this)

Agreed Google never mentions mobi specifically, but they aren't openly discussing their future plans either. So no one really knows what they are up to. It is all a calculated guess at this point.

The only reason that I see mobi websites as an advantage for Google, is controlling the cost of data time and the assurance of rendering content properly.

Error messages and inproper rendering equal lost ad revenue opportunity.

Rendering software is already available, but from my limited tech knowledge, it seems to require a multitude of constant changes for each and every wireless device. Individual service providers also have their own unique tech problems to overcome. With their own network, at least Google doesn't have the service providers problems to deal with.

Google has given some opinion to the problems of rendering and the myriad of problems it presents. They have wondered if it was worth all the effort.

Perhaps, they will conclude using their own rendering software is the most optimum for them. Perhaps they will decide it is simpler to populate their network with mobi sites.

In any event, I believe that Google will decide the future of the wireless world, because the other telcos have left the door open with their continued self interest solutions.

While they all scheme for their bigger piece of the pie, Google is going to buy the bakery.

Agreed. I think .mobi and tech (mobile browser, scripts) will coexist. It'll be interesting to see what happens down the road.
