The Dawn Of A New Era !!!

Hi everybody,
Today we have experienced the dawn of a new era for all of us.

It was like yesterday when I was excited to find out what domain names, ending with a new and unknown extension, that I had reserved I would be able to register... the time goes by fast and one year later an incredible popular auction has been held in on of the most famous domain broker sites, selling names with this "unknown" extension. And the fight has been hot. Anonimous bidders, that will be unveil soon, have spent the last week defining their strategies to bid their money, large amount of money, to get one of those strange extensions.

I just can be excited again, wondering what will mean for all of us that bizarre decission that we took one year ago. And the .mobi seeds are still under the internet land. The following months this new owners will water them and feed them, and some time, not very far, I will walk in the streets of Barcelona and I will realize that people are sufing internet with their mobiles, that my friends start talking about .mobis sites that are very cool and interesting, and watching on magazines even on tv ads .mobi sites. What is going to be the value of our .mobis then ???

It will be definitely difficult to get slept today.

What are you comparing prices to? Only 2 premiums have been released before this...If you call over $800,000 lower prices...I'll hope to be blessed with many many low priced sales in the future.

Lower prices? They are probably lower than some of the .mobis sold before, but I see this auction as a real evaluation of the .mobis right now. Valuation may be important for the aftermarket, but the spirit of the extension is in infancy and growth. Its caveman times, soon it will be medieval times, then the renaissance. there may even be the plague and the dark ages. In the end, as long as .mobi is without a shelf life and will make its presence in the mobile world, the valuation will follow its growth and demand.
One auction and even 6000 names are not going to determine whether it will succeed. mTLD using some of the money to market it certainly will help, but it otherwise may succeed. Things are ahead of schedule. Remember we were all worried about 9/26/08. its not even 2008 yet! and we're refreshed, somewhat reassured, optimistic and ready for battle.

Agree with you PVFARKAS.

Although I fantasize about skipping through the dark ages and straight to the age of enlightenment. I know that isn't possible. I've got my seatbelt on for the ride. I also think MTLD spending some money on marketing will really help things move right about now( yes, in addition to the development & etc we always talk about). In a few days time , I wish there would be a thread dedicated just for what people in this forum would like to see mtld spend their AD$ on. Like a wish list of Ad, sponsor general marketing ideas that they came across that were effective in their communities, country, culture
current trend etc. what would work for them ? kinda thing.
Just a thought.

I think the .mobi is a pure gambling till we will see the high traffic .mobi sites
started earning money.
may be there is a such .mobi site already, but i doubt it.
Without mobile surfers , mobile domains are still useless.
30K for loans.mobi says nothing, may be some owner of whatever-loans.com
earning 3K per day just invested the money in loans.mobi and will put there a useless page about how's great his whatever-loans.COM site is ?

what i'm trying to say is - if someone spent 30K on loans.mobi - means nothing good or bad about future of this extention.

I believe that vcool is making mid $xxx per month with dir.mobi and receiving something like 60,000 hits as well. That's pretty impressive
