Thank you Stijn, keywo seems to be more user-friendly than OVT itself.

Do you know if the data is cached by any chance (I guess that's not very likely to be the case), or is the tool dependent on OVT being up in order to function?

Be careful of how you use it - it doesn't distinguish well between word order, and singular vs plural.

It's funny that Yahoo gets the living snot kicked out of them by Google quater after quarter. Then, when Yahoo finds a product that people like (and use), they discontinue it. One can only hope the upper managment at Yahoo got wise and reinstanted Overture. Now, if Yahoo can just find a way to make a profit on it...

I really have no idea why Yahoo doesn't advertise their services or those of other companies on Overture... How many SEO companies wouldn't mind having a nice banner ad displayed at the top of every Overture search? Maybe a nice ad for Wordtracker or Keyword Discovery subscriptions?

They could make money off of Overture easy if they wanted to... Really a shame that a company with so much talent has so little vision.

Did some people experience problems with the results given?

I have one name with an .it OVT in May of 3'331'429. It's a fantastic name, but not one I would expect such a huge OVT and it seems quite a lot to me. However, all my other names are more or less what I would expect.

I'd recommend checking them in Wordtracker. If the Wordtracker result is considerably less than 1/33rd the Overture, it's probably an incorrect Overture result (or something that varies seasonally). Wordtracker results are based on a 3% sample of the market (which has been proven to be a sufficient quantity for reliable statistics) and hence an overall total search queries report (like Overture) should reflect statistics roughly 20-50 times higher on average for most terms which aren't seasonally affected. Combining Keyword Discovery + Wordtracker + Overture is an excellent way to make sure you've got the right facts

Sadly true. But weren't they supposed to be launching a much better version of it some time soon?

I guess I can find the answer with a little research, but I shouldn't have to do that - we should all be buzzing about the alpha/beta versions by now.

Try the new KeyWo.com. It shows you how much a word has been searched in Google.

Try to compare with words that you know the popularity of. Works great. You can also compare the searches done in different regions.
