Rooting for Nokia

All the waiting on google, msn etc.. leads me to believe Nokika is mobi's best hope. That company is attempting to transform itself into a google/my space/Youtube competitor and it actually has based this strategy on mobi. Anyway, just a random comment after seeing mosh.nokia.mobi now has surpassed 25,000 registered users. Incidently the google keyword stat of the day is 33 million + which is up 10% since I managed to get the last thread I posted about that locked down.

I bet this guy wishes he'd ponied up the necessary cash for mosh.com

See PC World for some other interesting news on Nokia's project. They apparently have a whopping 2 million users, of which ~ 25,000 are registered.

.Mobi was Nokia's idea from the beginning. The other companies were added to convince ICANN to grant the extension.

Giant businesses are rarely innovators, once they become giant businesses. They let others take the risks, and move in once the way to profit is established. Google and MS, and most everyone else, will go mobi when they see significant money in doing so. I am sure they are watching Nokia's efforts closely.

No worries, a train is slow at first, unstoppable later on.

As regards Nokia, they seriously prepare and support a community around mobile sites, having in mind 2 different directions:
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/dot-mobi/376519-rooting-for-nokia.html

1. .mobi sites
and
2. mobsites (usual web sites running in your phone and having some restricted access to phone functions).

Check this link for more information about mobile web server solution they offer.

They predict 500 mln mobile sites running on handsets in near future compared to 50 mln usual web sites available now.

Garrett, what do you mean about default button?
Just interesting.. I thinked about a real key or function of the phone keypad, like i-mode is/was, and it could be a good idea for manufacturers to make .mobi extension default when type url on handset...
