Correct .MOBI pronunciation

Hi All!

Does anybody know what's the correct apronunciation (dot mo-bi, mo-bai, mou-bai, etc and which syllable is stressed) of .mobi?

And how do you pronounce it?

Hi redwolf, the first syllable is stressed and both vowels are pronounced long: mobi (moe-bee)

That's easy. I decided to invest some money to .mobi names just after i noted the price became lower then usually at godaddy.. And in the middle of my brainstorm i've supposed i have a wrong pronunciation, so some rhymes could be irregular.

But I found some with the help of you guys.. For example, moebee.mobi
Kidding. But if someone will find it useful..

????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/dot-mobi/374216-correct-mobi-pronunciation.html
moe - measure of effectiveness
bee - could be the standard to compare with
mobi - reminds about the platform this moe being calculated on (if the domain is used to host that service).

So I suppose then IF you really believe that and were to be consistent, that for "branding" one's mobile site (after all this IS the .mobi discussion area) you should also prefer fewer syllables .... for example something like .... eggonmyface.mobi - would be much shorter than mobile.eggonmyface.com ... or .... m.eggonmyface.com ... or ... eggonmyface.com/mobile/ ....
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=374216

Yes, the shortest way to type a mobile URL is to use that "moh-bee" thing. Imagine that.

It's interesting. They had to call it .MOB following the logic of unambiguousness and shortness (imagine, tens or hundreds of thousands handset users type 1 symbol more every time they go mobile web, it means collectively they type those tens or hundreds of thousands symbols on their smartphones. So much unnecessary work and energy)..
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=374216

Although I'm sure they discussed .MOB vs .MOBI. May be there is some hidden logic in their choice of .MOBI. Like to use/make the real word "mobi" meaning "mobile phone" and to give a simpler association for new/offline customers. Such a marketing decision..

By the way, how do native English-speaking feel that "mobi"? Is that ok to say "my mobi" instead of "my mobile phone"?

Yes, it's all very interesting for our discussion purposes ... length, syllable(s), branding, marketing ... .MOB vs. .MOBI, "M Dots" vs. .MOBI, .COM vs. NET, etc.

Oh mannnnnnn .... you ruined my day .... guess now I'll have to go and dump all my "dot-you-ess" generics because with that extra syllable they are evidently too hard to pronounce and read (for lip readers).
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=374216

I'm confused ... they must have "syllable-off coupons" or something in the UK because that whole "dot-koh-dot-you-kay" thing sure seems to have caught on. Six million plus regs ... hmmm ... extra syllables or keystrokes must be okay for the normal person .....

"moe-bee" ... I like the sound of that.

I'm not generally really into two syllable'd .US ("You Ess") (or .INFO ("Inn Foe")), either ... so I don't understand your assertion, IMHO.

Yeah, naming itself is interesting, and naming having a lot of conditions dictated by market reality is not only like a good game. Actually I believed in .mobi after I started my marketing research of mobile software market and saw the numbers.. Dot mobi has good chances!

OP is about pronunciation. I would like you to set forth the percentage of your portfolio you have vested in .mobi and the percentage of weekly posts that you place relative to .mobi. You are the least professional poster here, petition is coming, i'm starting one.
