| Retired© | Nice reported sales ... were "Pay", "Rooms", and "555" all sold by the same domainer, and also then purchased by one individual (according to Whois, XAvier Buck)? We all agree, I believe, of the importance of getting premium domains into the hands of End users / Developers, does anyone know of XAvier Buck and his/her/their specific development plans for these - and any other - purchased .MOBI's? ![]() Thanks for any insight. They just bought it last month. What exactly did you expect? A full-blown, developed website where you can apply for a home loan? I think it was a great buy for $25,000. Whoever bought that is going to be very happy a few years from now. IMHO, of course

It would be great if all three of these were developed and ready to go, but that's just not realistic Jeff, especially for one that was purchased a month ago.

And YES, the beauty of the dot-mobi extension is that right from the beginning and going forward the extension is made to be mobile compliant (and mobile user friendly) MORE THAN ANY OTHER TLD on the planet. Quote:

| www.LLLL.com Forum Moderator | Rick said it himself... He builds ugly sites to get users of his names (hopefully clicking a link on the way out). If mtld considers Rick the kind of buyer they're hoping to attract, then they might as well admit they were in fact cybersquatters... That reserving those names was in fact not for the collective good (aka a lame excuse on their part for profit maximization), and that they don't care whatsoever about the .mobi ecosystem, being concerned primarily with lining their pockets with the cash of those who have the most to spend on domains -- domainers. |

| Retired© | Your fears are certainly warranted, Mr. Reece ... in fact, I think there are MANY right now wondering if this whole thing was just an mTLD "Money Grab", ITHO's? ![]() The latest, the "eligible buyer" point, will be interesting to watch going forward ... equally as interesting as to exactly how, going both back and forward, the coding requirements and compliance measures will affect the likes of Flowers.mobi, Casinos.mobi, and so many other either undeveloped, parked, or unsatisfactory Ready.mobi score standards, IMHO. ![]() We will be watching very closely! ![]() -Jeff

| www.LLLL.com Forum Moderator | **DISCLAIMER** THIS IS INTENDED TO BE A WORST CASE SCENARIO -- SHOULD MTLD INTENTIONALLY MAKE MOST OF THESE PREMIUMS "DOMAINER PROPERTY". BECAUSE WE HAVE NO EVIDENCE OF THIS AT THIS TIME, THIS IS TO BE TAKEN AS PURELY CONJECTURE. LET US ALL HOPE MTLD IS AWARE OF THE POTENTIAL CONSEQUENCES (ELUCIDATED BELOW) OF A "WORST CASE SCENARIO" SITUATION. Should these 500 or whatever amount of names be released simultaneously... This poses potential serious problems in the .mobi aftermarket should these names all (or mostly all) go to domainers. And before you argue with that point, I've brought it up in the past and it's been agreed with by even those wearing their pink glasses... Let's elucidate this so that even those with pink glasses so thick they can't see through can see the point I'm trying to make here... 500 names sold ~ to domainers. Domainer A, B, C, ..., X,Y,Z,..., AA, AB, AC,..., SD, SE, SF. Let's pretend those abbreviations represent the domainers in question. This is assuming mtld has more sense than they perhaps do and imposes a limit on the amount of names a person can own to 1 auctioned domain. So... Domainer A tries to sell Sex.mobi for $1 mm. Domainer B is the proud owner of Porn.mobi. He decides to undercut the owner of Sex.mobi and list his for sale at $900k. This kind of behavior continues because nobody is interested in paying such high prices for .mobis. So... They keep undercutting each other until they get to just above the prices paid at auction for these names -- say, around 400k. BUT and it's a BIG one... The market has taken a turn for the worst as of late. With a dozen premium adult names all up for sale simultaneously and mtld promising another 500 names being released shortly therafter, domainers are trying to sell these names to endusers... badly. Supply keeps on going up and up as mtld floods the market with more and more premiums, determined to milk as much money out of the extension before the Bubble bursts. Domainers begin undercutting each other and even themselves (the irony!) in an attempt to get these names sold, even accepting losses over what they paid for them. The mobile web is rapidly gaining steam... but with so many names to choose from, endusers just can't make up their mind and decide to settle for the cheaper ones, or wait until the market reaches a trough or at least some degree of stability. Those wearing pink glasses decide to get a stronger (thicker) prescription, because clearly everything happening on the outside is not registering on the inside. In the end, people point the finger at mtld like Reece said all along Those who hyped up the extension and invested during the landrush make huge profits... Intelligently selling just before the peak rapidly takes a turn for the worst. Those who plan to develop their names will do well. The .mobi extension indexes well in Google. But those who came here in March, April,... with the idea that .mobi would make them rich for doing no work but just regging a few names... These are the big losers here. These are the ones who're going to pay the price for mtld's actions. |
