![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | The reality... Mobile web surfing is barely in it's adoption-infancy. Calling .mobi a failure before the toddler can stand... chicken little. Calling .mobi a failure before the toddler can stand... player hater. Mobile is limited by bandwidth, hardware and immediate corporate ROI (despite industry growth projections). We're 4+ years from being able to even think about calling for success or failure. Jeremy Padawer

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hi Jeremy- Welcome back! In regards to mobi, sorry, IMHO, it does not have 4 years (or even 2 years) to succeed. Technology is advancing fast and furious everyday. Either adapt to it and create value for users SOON or forever be relegated to a niche domain. The mindset of the mTLD employees should be, "there is no tomorrow so get it done today"! |

![]() ![]() ![]() | I think the current 'lull', is actually where things should be right now, or perhaps slightly lower since bubbles tend to over correct. Flowers.mobi kicked off rampant speculation and a lot of people were looking to make unrealistic returns. That type of speculation is not sustainable, and ultimately hurt .mobi. Once the mobile internet and hopefully .mobi become more established, then higher prices may be justified. But as OP mentioned, this takes time. I also think all the frustration over the RFP process is completely unfounded. First of all, generics are going to mean nothing to the general public. Generics are great from a domainer perspective, as they get type-in traffic. But what percentage of user actually navigate that way? To answer my own question, very few. What is going to make or break .mobi is google.mobi, yahoo.mobi, youtube.mobi, etc. That is what it is going to take to bring .mobi into the public spotlight. It doesn't matter if flowers.mobi is a parked page or a full site, or if generic.mobi doesn't resolve. if the general public is not aware of .mobi, nobody is going to these sites anyway. I personally am glad to see them hold on to the premium names. Not only does this give mtld a vested interest in .mobi's success, it shows me that they believe in the long term value of it, otherwise they would be selling them for whatever they can get for them now. |

I aggree with you "because...it could be sooner if things take off" BOFA is the national sponsor if the NFL and olympics and BOFA are big on promoting" Football season is less then a month away!!! And the other day my special lady friend saw a Billboard off of I-95 (Philly) for a .mobi name...She doenst know who it was really, but she said a big company and remembered the .mobi in it. "not confirmed yet but" I am gona drive by there next week from work and take the long route. But anyway...BOFA is hardcore for advertising and its not jsut them. It could of been another company promoting there .mobi. (Iam thinking it was probably BOFA) ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=363013 Anyway it doesn't matter, IMHO the word is getting out now and with the weather channel's confirmation...look out. Lets just all do are best and develope our own .mobis especialy the great names that we have in our portfolio. And for people that hold them and leave them parked...then its just hurting the extention..... Lets do it EVERYONE!

????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=363013 That being said, I also think it is important to get the best keyword domains into developers hands before the year 8006. Having even 200 or 300 of the top premium domains out, developed, and promoted will also have a large effect on .mobi awareness and success. So, I think BOTH are extremely important.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Bofa.mobi, IF promoted to the extent as recently indicated, is a substantial event, IMHO ... I've said this repeatedly. Weather.mobi is recycled, almost incestuous, "news", and the premiums/reserveds and especially RFP's are a TOTAL DISASTER in my view (but perhaps simply a "setback" for some here ITHO's). And, finally, I agree that a developed, stand-alone, and fully promoted and advertised Google.mobi may very well prove to be the difference between an adopted extension ... or a sleepy novelty/niche/vanity item, IMHO. ![]() Just a few humble thoughts ... and opinions. ![]() -Jeff

![]() ![]() ![]() | Well, Google is supposedly a backer of .mobi. If they suddenly started promoting Google.mobi, that would certainly make .mobi a hit overnight. That could still happen, I think and hope. One thing to remember is that Google is just starting to roll out mobile advertising. It could very well be that they are waiting on promoting Google.mobi until the appropriate time. If and when that ever happens, you know that all the other major websites will follow suit. .mobi could end up becoming something big after all, JUST FROM THAT ALONE. I know this: If .mobi becomes a household name, you can call me "mid-six figure Garrett".

Truth is, any 1 of these 5 domains could make this extension a household name: 1. Google.mobi 2. Yahoo.mobi 3. MSN.mobi 4. AmericanIdol.mobi 5. YouTube.mobi
