Thanks again to all for your feedback, and sorry for my hosting snafu yesterday--for several hours all of my geos were pointing to a parking page.

Anyway, that issue is finally straightened out so I can get back to working on new ones....by next week I should have number 8 up and running.....apropos of nothing, it happens to be Michael Vick's hometown.......

OK, it's up--NewportNews.mobi. For those of you outside the US, Newport News is a coastal city in Virginia. Lots of Civil War history there, and it is also known for its shipbuilding industry. Thoughts/questions/comments are always appreciated!!

Maybe put a google search box. While people are there you could pick up some extra revenue from people doing searches.

I like the simple and neat job for your sites.
I have few small cities domainnames ; I will use your template if you don't mind.
Did you write yourself the html code ?
(Small suggestion : for stjohn.mobi, add the the state or the country ; in Canada, where I live, there are many «St-John» cities ! )

Thanks to both of you for your suggestions!!

I do not write my own code--I wish I knew how! No problem if you want to use mine as a starting point for yours. Let me know when yours are up so I can visit them.

Hi-
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=360701

Nice job with your sites! One suggestion is to include phone numbers (for hotels, etc) so that a user can directly dial out from your page.

I think akc did an excellent job in the wap dev thrad (sticky) and you may want to ask your programmer to do them using akc's example (below):

========================

Linking Phone Numbers.
One of the benefits of the Mobile Web is that its users primarily view it on a phone, allowing the user to quickly and easily make phone calls. It’s an opportunity to help the user and save steps:
Code:

<a href="tel:+12065450210">+1 206 545-0210</a>
========================

by the way, are you planning to monetize your traffic, other than garrett's "search box" suggestion?

great job!

I completely agree with your comment about phone numbers. My plan was to have phone numbers for every business listed on every site, using one-click dialing as you describe above (and to do the same thing with e-mail). I need to go back and check which listings are missing them--thanks for the reminder!

Other than the search box (thanks Garrett!), I'm monetizing with AdMob PPC, although its not a huge money-maker by any stretch. My ultimate goal is to get individual businesses to pay to be listed on my site, much like the geo.coms do now. That's long term, and IMHO it really depends on the success of mobi as a TLD. For now, I'm just interested in getting a bunch of sites out there, publicizing them, getting them listed in search engines, etc. I'm fairly new to this and learning as I go. Thanks again for your advice.

I use a developer that handles all that. Not sure if he uses software, I think he may just code straight XHTML. There are a bunch of places that have free software (like dev.mobi) that might be a good place to start. Sorry I can't be more help!

MM.
