I can confirm, I have the contracts here.
Also 555.mobi and rooms.mobi for $11,770 each.

These domains were originally listed at Moniker for the Traffic conference in New York, where they did not sell. As per contract, Moniker gets the exclusive rights for 3 months, so they also listed them at this next auction.
A bit to my own surprise, this second auction did better than the big one in New York.
All three sold at my reserve price, looks like there were some smart buyers here!

Please could you explain the rationale behind buying "pay" for that ammount? What kind of site woul be there? What would end users type it in for? Wouldn't' most m-commerce transactions have a link to pay within its own pages? Wouldn't a name like this have to compete against Visa, Google Checkout, Paypal, integrated my-own-bank payment systems, etc..?
It may be good to re-sell to other domainers, and it is nice that is short, but what is exactly the long term development value of this name?

ad sales to several pay services to have their website or contact details listed...
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=352636

pay services - any type of service that transfers money... or loans money...
like the check into cash places... etc... you could have dozens of those companies listed - charging them an ad fee to be on pay.mobi

selling ad space is extremely lucrative - when you have a GREAT domain name...

Paying by TXT, email, and other wireless methods are becoming very popular. This was a good price IMO.

an upcoming mobile service will be sending money from one mobile device to another. Lets say your daughter is on vacation and ran out of money...you could send money from your account to hers lets say for a 2% fee...then she pays for a plane ticket swiping the phone. Imagine 2% of just 10 million every year!

Congrats!

Did another Usual Suspect™ domainer purchase it ... or will there be - if you know - actual development with unique and compelling content for mobile users?

Also, who purchased ... 555.mobi and rooms.mobi?

No worries, sometimes I can lack a little patience ... also, since I've been up in the boonies in Maine on vacation, do we yet know the buyer(s) of Mortgages.mobi and Laptops.mobi from the last Traffic Show? As I posted here prior to vacation on July 7th, I'm curious as to whether they were both purchased by the same individual (domainer), and/or if there are development plans in the immediate future IMHO.

Wonderful News

Congratulations , this is wonderful news.

I have repay.mobi . Not in the same class as pay.mobi.

I hope who ever bought the 3 names will develop.

Looking forward to hearing more exciting mobi sales over the coming months.

Good luck, people.

Its about traffic monetization. Pay.mobi not only is a premium generic LLL word on its own but developed it will be linked to positive linked sites allowing for se rank increase establishing that valued page ranking. The name is one thing, its what you do with the domain so google will spider it correctly to increase the sites value. People with the $ to pay this kind of $ for domains realize (hopefully) aspects of monetizing the name so it ends up becoming a multi-million $ domain. With the $$ and proper SEO, NSEO techiniques any site can be set up so they perform well inviting high traffic to stay ranked high within googles main index or they can very easily end up in the subsequent index if mishandled, ie. google hell.
