RANT: Could we please put all new name registrations in the appropriate place?

Now I don't mean to squelch any one's enthusiasm on registering dotMobi names. BUT, as I look at what should be the main news source, I am choking on "what do you think" threads.

Can we just agree that opinions on new registrations will be in the Showcase or Best reg of the day threads? There's a better chance of getting opinions in that thread anyway.

Does that make me a dick?

Putting them in the "best reg of the day" thread doesn't make much sense either because most of them don't qualify.

I don't see a problem with people posting their names to get opinions, that's part of what this is all about. If you don't want to read a thread, it's your choice to not read it.

Have you thought about registering "curmudgeon.mobi", I think it might still be available

Lets make one giant thread for .mobi news so you don't have to waste your time reading people's request for opinions.

It's hard enough to get people's opinions on your names when you put them in separate threads. Post a name in the "best reg of the day" thread, and you'll be lucky to even get acknowledged. People only seem to open that thread to post their own names. So while it might seem logical that "there's a better chance of getting opinions in that thread anyway", it doesn't work out that way.

Also, let's say someone posts their name at 9pm at night. The next day, 5 people post their names under them. When the evening flood of logins come, and people read their subscribed threads, most of them are only going to read the last couple of posts. So does that original poster repost his name? No, he'd be scolded. Does he make his own thread? No, you'd be annoyed.

It doesn't bother me. The forum isn't flooded with them. Plus it gives me something to read and usually laugh at when I'm bored. No offense to those out there registering those god awful names lately. Some people need to put their credit card in a block of ice until they learn how to use it

How about a simple OPINIONS thread and a NEWLY REGGED thread.

The trick will be others (newbies coming on) to find this and get on board with this.

Streamline the message boards and threads to the particular issues. I am all for this as I find it difficult to follow along. But, as is the case in every matter regarding more than one person, there will always be disagreement.

OPINIONS
APPRAISALS
NEW REGGED
NEW SITES
SALES
PURCHASES

and a few more.

By the way, ImAdick.mobi is available but I urge spam blockers on your inbox.

Might make you quite the popular domainer.

Agreed. At this early stage of .mobi, we need to tolarate a little bit and nurture the market as much as we can.

Not totally off IMO. I think more descriptive thread titles would help us decide if we want to participate.

Won't go into any detail, but when I see a thread started by certain individuals it is either a good indication of:

A. Good Stuff
B. More crap

There is no option C.

But I think we need a better way of finding what we're after.

For that, I have no answer.

Problem is that this begins to overlap with existing areas already in NP. Us mobi folks can be such a hassle.

Just condense the ones that are redundant and/or change the thread titles. 'New Regs', 'Best Reg of Day', 'Showcase', etc should just be one sticky thread, and so on with the other titles and related threads. Individuals, if they want, can still post their own threads on their regs etc., but they usually disappear in a couple days depending on their subject and traffic.

We seem to be overlapping the overlapping of the overlaps. If I get Tim's drift correct, a few are posting "what do you think of this?" 10-15 times almost running the forum amuck with the same subject matter being posted. Spamming the forum...yup, that's what the mods were nailing me on early in my day.

Please no. I value fellow mobier opinions on .mobi appraisals. I think there a number of mobiers that don't venture much off the mobi forum. I know I don't much anymore.

Yeah, I don't think .mobi gets much attention in the general appraisal thread.

I don't want to dilute the intent of the OP or let others reframe it either. I simply would like those folks who post multiple opinion threads to consider consolidating them into one per day or post them in the existing threads.

I think we see a large number of new members here in the mobi forum compared to the rest of NP. These people are excited because they see this great thing happening and feel they can make a quick buck. The reality is they are new and have no clue what they are doing, but it is fun to watch

Oh yeah! I'm excited about .mobi too - completely... I definately don't want to discourage new members from registering new names or posting them. I would just like to see some organization and structure.
