| Senior Member | This, to me, is a tough one. Sure, OVT is going to be strong, but then again, the target audience can access info for free at the public library. , most people being on welfare or looking for welfare info are not able to afford web-enabled cell phones and or service. Therefore, I believe the target audience will be small...To me, this name does not fit the extension well, but what do I know I'm certainly not saying it's worthless...just hard to value... Good Luck! |

| NamePros Regular | Hi all thanks for your comments, it was a landrush domain. I don't think that being on welfare would stop anyone from having a mobile phone, as i know a few single parents on the welfare but they always have a mobile and even with Pay as you go phones in the UK you can access the net if the charges are right! I've always owned contract phones personally but i know for definate that at least one of my mates have wap enabled phones, then again we are speaking UK not US it may be different over your side of the pond????

| Forum Moderator Forum Moderator | It is different on our side of the pond, AT THE MOMENT. It seems that Europe and Asia are way ahead of us in mobile internet usage and price. We have a lot of catching up to do. Someone made the same argument about my "SSI.mobi", that someone looking for disability info wouldn't be able to afford mobile internet. Hogwash. In 3 years everyone will have it, even people on welfare. You ever heard of "welfare cadillacs"? Hell, I know people right now on the dole who drive better cars than me and live in a better house. |

![]() I don't see the mobile application ... and the demographics (affordability by the target audience, non-profit nature, etc. as mentioned) aren't good ... but content and development could certainly overcome, in my view. ![]() Look for an End user first ... $Xx - $Xxx in a "Quick Sale", IMHO. Best of Luck. -Jeff

| NamePros Regular | [QUOTE=Jeff]What, and from whom, did the email say? [QUOTE]The email address is a hotmail one so i strongly suspect it's a domain speculator. Also I don't know how much mobile phones etc cost in the US but all the US residents seem to think that mobiles are out of reach for people on welfare, this is certainly not the case in the UK. Maybe our poor are richer than your poor???? Best ask Mr Bush to raise the payments slightly!!!! But on a serious note welfare doesn't have to be about benefits there are other applications, such as animal welfare, child welfare, it's not all about the USA term welfare it has different meanings throughout the world. For instance if you said 'cell' to me in the UK, Being an ex electrical/weapons aircraft engineer i'd think you were on about batteries or a jail cell!! Not a cell phone!!

| Retired© | Yeah, I can see the translation / meaning being different in parts of the world ... again, unique and compelling content will overcome for your intent for the domain / future website, IMHO. ![]() Righto, domain speculators often use alias @hotmail.com accounts ... can you copy and paste the contents here and perhaps we can work together to arrive at an acceptable strategy, counter? Wholesale "Quick Sale" may be a favorable outcome here, in my view. ![]() Best of Luck. -Jeff

In the original email i didn't actually receive an offer just an enquiry as to what i would sell it for and if it was for sale, so i have no figures yet to work with from their end, I have written an email and sent it but for now i will wait patiently, i have investigated to see if I can find any clues as to who it is but no search engines and no forum alias's have sprung to light. But i'll wait and see what happens i've asked for mid $xxxx to see if they counter. I shall keep you all informed as to the outcome, fingers crossed it's positive!!!!
