| Account Closed | This is where .Mobi said it would be the "DEFAULT" Here is the posting by Vance Hedderel of .Mobi where he claims .Mobi would be come the default address for mobiles. http://law-of-mobility.com/2006/12/1...-of-2006-mobi/ # Vance Hedderel, Director of PR and Communications, dotMobi Says: December 19th, 2006 at 2:03 pm "Since every big story deserves a follow-up for year’s end … More than 300,000 domains have been registered since launch. Content is coming alive daily, with brands like BusinessWeek and CNNMoney featuring the availability of their .mobi sites in their advertising. However, as far as existing mobile web standards, that’s one of the many issues we’ve addressed in our blog’s “Misconceptions” series at http://dotmobi.typepad.com/dotmobi/m...ons/index.html. And while I understand what people mean when they say “.mobi” seems strenuous to type, I believe that’s soon to be a non-issue as more and more phone manufacturers default their handset web browsers to .mobi domains." Ps. I notice that the .Mobi-Typepad has been quite for the past 3 weeks with no "NEWS" on .mobi. And that after the "Heated" posting of last month to which Mrs. Greer from .Mobi replied saying news would soon be forthcoming. Looks to me nothing much is happening with the .Mobi team. Are they enjoying a "well earned" holiday already? Maybe they have achieved what they set out to do and the money's in the bank. |

Anyway. They are incredibly active at mTLD with posting in about updates and stuff. If you think 3 weeks is long, telnic (.tel) hasn't made an update in over 4 months.

| NamePros Regular | The mobi registry has been quite clear on the subject of automatic default. They want mobi to be the automatic default. It is up to the device manufacturers to install the software in new devices. The registry said that Nokia is already doing so. I don't see any reason to doubt them. |

I agree with Arnie here i'm thinking it won't happen but it really depends on MTLD and how hard they are pushing for this to happen. Although i think it won't be long until there is a good enough .mobi infrastructure so MTLD can start shouting about it and pouring the millions in their advertising budget to get things really heated up. I just wonder what the magic number (of developed .mobi sites) is before they start an advertising campaign, or if they have a date set to kick it all off!

all the naysayers & quite a lot of us were saying from the start, why aren't they advertising it, promoting etc. i guess there was no point until an infrastructure of sites was & is up & running. maybe soon? the default would be orgasmic

I'll believe that when I see it. http://www.nokiausa.com/N800 "Internet tablet" which can be used as a phone promoting .com Not too surprised, just checked all their products. All their cellular phones show nokia.com in the slideshows. http://www.nseries.com/index.html?CM...ducts,n76,demo Nokia Web Browser: View web pages as they were originally intended. Find the section you want and then zoom in to the content you need. When you start scrolling, the view automatically zooms out to help you see your destination and lets you steer to get there. Smart Text Fit identifies text and smartly fits it to the width of the screen, preserving the original design of the web page. And Visual History keeps a record of your browsing so you can quickly get back to where you were.

| Account Suspended | The pictures and text may be scaled to fit, like NP is on my MDA, but it still takes FOREVER for NP to load on my phone...FOREVER! Simply forcing a square peg into a round spot is not necessarily what dotMobi is doing. dotMobi is introducing the idea of strictly mobile content on an easily spotted medium, .mobi. When you see .mobi, you'll know that the content is GUARANTEED to fit and EFFICIENTLY load. Again - again - again, no one is saying that .com cannot / does not have mobile content and that even some sites promote m/site.com or site.com/m or site.com/mobile or site.com/wap or wap.site.com or...you get the picture. The rub is that no one can simply LOOK at a .com site and know for sure that it has a mobile segment to it nor will there ever be even 50% compliance - not even a movement to try to make sites get compliant - not even the hint of such. You can look at site.mobi and know that it will work on your phone, guaranteed or the site gets pulled. dotMobi has well formed guidelines, an extraordinary support system and a timeline for compliance and a marketing beast that is courting global providers. It looks like they are the leaders in mobile content to me and masses of others, including fortune 1000 companies. Good debate though. ![]() Quote:

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Nokia supports mTLD and it is very clear. They have 2 live dot mobi sites (for now) http://nokia.mobi and http://nokiaforbusiness.mobi. They have few dot mobi domains like mynokia.mobi, widsets.mobi, kannykka.mobi... They also spread words about .mobi (for example Store Finder or adservice FAQ where you can read this: What can nokia.mobi bring to advertising? Nokia Ad Service will provide a worldwide reach to advertisers through its network of mobile publishers. Nokia. mobi, the largest mobile portal with over 100 million monthly visits in 120 countries, already joined the network.) What`s going on with other mTLD investors, like Sony or Samsung? They are quiet (for now)? But I don`t care, Nokia is the big daddy. They know how to make phone, a good one. I don`t expect any .mobi button in future, because it will be bad marketing move for any mobile phone manufacturer. IMO, .mobi button will never happen. No one of them want to make phones for only one TLD. |

mtld throwng up some informative content on all those reserved names could solve this problem immediately and allow for something like this to happen.
