That doesn't matter right now. Read the email. They are PROMOTING their .mobi, that's why this is good news.

And, PR yesterday showed BofA PROMOTING their .mobi.

Yep. In many ways, it may be better for the companies to not use .mobi explicitly, that way they don't have to worry about having their site disabled should it have elements which mtld does not consider mobile compatible.

BUT

As long as they're promoting the .mobis and companies are actively seeking .mobi addresses for that very same reason, .mobis will fair nicely on the aftermarket.

When "I" type in www.TDNAM.com on my cell with it's operamini I actually get www.TDNAM.com And it looks wayyyyy better then the cheesy .mobi version

Too much information on one page for me TBH.

If I am on the go then I would prefer to use the .mobi version, IMHO.

The thing with Opera Mini is that the .com owners don't control how their site looks on mobile devices.

Got to settle for the best, and that is .mobi IMO.

Another great find. Although one thing I don't understand. Why they did not use godaddy.mobi in place of tdnam.mobi? They already have godaddy.mobi site up and running. So why they need tdnam.mobi? godaddy name is already popular and they can promote that as well and tdnam.mobi might be difficult to remember.

Yes, mobi sites often look good but I learned yesterday that opera mini messes up the quick key access that many mobi programmers use. So for me it is something I'll use mainly for a "regular" website if/when I need it. The regular phone browser works a bit quicker anyway.

Goading some domainers about some ways 'you' can view a site, is not changing the fact that big companies are buying, using, and getting ready to promote their .mobi names for the 'world' to view sites on their mobiles. Goad all you want, but like it or not, the reality is .mobi is taking place, is going to happen, and all your cynicism is just going by the wayside. Thanks for pointing that out Scandiman. I never had this problem before myself. Don't often use it anyways...

I think it's good all round to be able to visit both versions, mobile & regular. Depends where you are, how much time you have on your hands to navigate through all the information, pictures, etc.

At the end of the day it is great news that all these large companies are choosing to brand their mobile site using the .mobi TLD.

They probably will. But maybe they just want to try it out on TDNAM first.
