New Mobile Technologies that could help DotMobi Sites

There are some new mobile technologies being tested or have been deployed that could help DotMobi websites that are geared toward commerce.

The first is: ShopText
ShopText, based in New York, has introduced a system and service that lets people buy products instantly using text messages.

Although any website can provide this service, a consumer using a phone could see an ad or read a magazine article, visit the corresponding DotMobi site and view products and services there. If they wish to purchase something from the site, they can simply text message a code from the ad or the site.

The second is: Textango
Textango allows individuals from there phone to purchase music using text messaging.

The cost and the bill for the purchases of music is sent to the users phone bill. If there are DotMobi sites geared toward local bands, music artists or independent labels, this would be a great method of commerce for them.

The third is: Near Field Communications
This technology permits the ability for short-range wireless interaction in consumer electronics, mobile devices and PCs.

MasterCard is testing the technology in New York using Nokia phones to allow consumers to shop at stores like CVS and McDonald's. This technology could be used to also support commerce for stores and companies that have DotMobi websites. Since the phone will receive messages as an individual passes a billboard, kiosk or electronic display, a DotMobi URL could be sent to the phone to promote a product or service. The individual could then view the information and choose whether or not to purchase the product or service.

These three technologies are just a small amount of activity occurring globally. This is an exciting time people. Just hold on to your Mobis.....you have not seen anything yet. :-)
