I have just received an email asking if I would consider putting a text advert on canines.mobi for $35.00.

Thanks, I dont know the time frame, just the offer of $35.00 and stating they had a small budget but could offer me $35.00.

I have not replied as yet. I am trying to get over the excitement that I feel it is all starting to happen for mobi.

Great news. It's one thing to go out and sell ads. It's quite another to have people approach you! I'd be interested in knowing the time frame that these folks expect for their $35. Any updates would be greatly appreciated.

A revenue generating offer is something to be excited about, especially your first. What is your traffic stats for canines.mobi?

At least try bargaining with them, maybe up to $50 or $60. Definitely come up with some kind of time frame, like a monthly fee or something.

Agreed. Either they'll pay you a little more, or they'll hold firm--no downside. I don't think there's any way you could lose the offer simply by countering.

I think 6 months would be reasonable. If they experience good results, I'm sure they'll be more than willing to pay a higher fee down the road. They may even do some of the promotion for you, granted traffic to your site means traffic to theirs.

From a future advertiser standpoint, it looks good that someone is willing to advertise with you. It'll make it easier to get more/better advertisers down the road.

Assuming 60 uniques average x 30 days gives you 1800 per month.

Assuming $35/month then you are getting about 2 cents per impression which is pretty good. Admob will often pay as little as 2 cents per click so getting that per impression would be great.

First let them tell you what they had in mind. If they are thinking per month then you just threw away 5 months of revenue.

let them tell you first and counter with "per month". this way you are not tied down in case you sell the domain, or change your mind about ads altogether. 35 for one week/month is great... not for 6 months though.

$35 for 6 months is only $5.83 per month. Thats not worth even wasting your time to put their link on your site. It might pay for the renewal but who cares, renewals of mobi are cheap anyway. No point in investing in mobi to just make pennies. If you are going to stay at $35 at least make it per month and if they think its too much to pay on a monthly basis try lowering it to $20 a month if you have to. 5 bucks a month just isnt worth it at all.

$5.83 a month might not be much, but it's better than what most of us are getting now for adding a link....$0.00...

At this young stage, anything is better nothing, IMHO. Yeah, 2-3 months from now, he/she might be getting a good deal at this rate, but...it's only a link. You can add more...just my .02

The fact they are doing insurance business should mean they in fact have a pretty large budget. I would counter with about $50 as someone else said. There is almost no risk about countering a offer like this.

I wouldn't discount the value of paying for reg fee via advertising so quickly. That being said, I agree that $5.83/month is too cheap. I think some of you may not understand what advertising costs out there in the real world and an ad to a targeted audience is much more valuable than $5.83/mo.

I would ask about partnerships or affiliate programs that they might have. If your site is generating good traffic then offers for advertising will always be there.
