Maybe this thread can be about "it's not what .mobi can do for you, But what you can do for .mobi and your .mobi names!........And post what you have done lately to promote it to the general public"

This may be a pointless new thread (sorry), but I wanted to tell everyone what I did last night to help spread the word about .mobi around to the common enduser, and when I go out tonight, I will do the same thing while sipping some tastey beverages!

Anyway, I was at my usual hangout spot at the bar from 7pm to 3am, and had numerous conversations with people in that time frame and all I talked about was .mobi, and it is a martini bar (with people with there bluetooth heads sets lol)

ANyway "no one Knew about .mobi", so "I showed them on there own phones, my .mobi site and some others ones." There jaws droped in amazemnet on how fast it was and easy to access and were very thankful for me showing them! (Maybe they will tell their wife/husband/kids or coworkers about it now?)

Anyway IMO the best thing we can do now is to develope and show people how easy it is to look at a developed.mobi site to get there content!

Great thread Brian because I'm tired of hearing, "I asked a bunch of people and no one heard of .mobi." No Duh! It's great that you choose to go the extra step and introduce them to it. I've done the same and people are wanting more content.

and i forgot to ad this but the cool thing is that, I met a Sound producer that can produce original beats/music ect.. for ringtones there last night for my future ringtone Blings site. I checked his stuff out and He's really good and gets about 130 hits per day on his myspace page and has alot of followers. So I am meeting up with him tonight to furture talk about this and the ringtones produced ect....

And after it is develeloped I am sure he will post the .mobi name on there and those 130 people that go to his site every day to download his music, will see the .mobi link then BAM!

It may not happen for about 2-3 months though..But I am trying

Amazing, you got a bunch of people who were sipping on vodka to think something was cool.

I tell everyone I know about .mobi, although I feel like an idiot when I have to say "Dot Moby". Like you, I recognize the need for everyone with a vested interest in the extension to do their part to spread the word, since as far as I know, mTLD isn't doing much at the moment.

By the way, it's "ASK not what your country can do for you - ask what YOU can do for your country."

It will not be an easy thing to brand and market effectively ... and this is even IF mTLD was doing something at the moment - by the way, where TIME is critical - to actually build, brand and market it!

Bottom line, NO ONE knows where this is headed ... so choose your registrations and acquisitions (and developments) wisely, and don't put all of your eggs into one .MOBI Basket™, IMHO. Diversify!

I am sending out 3 postcards to each hospital in the country. Thus far only 800 have been mailed.

At present I have 9000 postcards. I will be ordering perhaps 12,000-15,000 more.

I am adding a sticker to the front of on each one that will be posted for the viewer promoting my site and one other person's site thus far. That sticker says:

Planning a Trip?

Without going into too much detail about this here, go to www.1719.info. There you will learn everything you need to know about the project. It is a monster. That is not really the focus of this thread.

To put it bluntly, I am not waiting for any one to do any thing for me. I have goals and opportunities that I am seizing. I am cross promoting the hell out of mobi. I have recently regged the domain MobilizingMobi.com. Why?

That is what needs to happen. Perhaps I coined the term, perhaps I didn't but I have been using it for a while now. Along with MobiPhobics and MobiPhiles.

Here's the situation...I see everybody patting each other on the back for this wonderful reg and this wonderful reg. I am about to puke.

Some of the crap I am seeing is beyond any reasoning or applications to mobi. To me, half the shit I am reading is that...shit in any lanquage. The rationale I see for regging is beyond rationale. Just because it is a dictionary word, just because it has a high OVT, just because it is regged in every other known TLD reg...that does NOT mean it is applicable to a mobile format, a mobile lifestyle, or even worth the money you paid for it.

Guess what? THERE IS SOME GEMS LEFT! I'm getting a big kick out of google returns and OVT rankings as if that has the final word on whether its a keeper or not. It doesn't make a big hill of beans what the hell it is or what it says or what the rankings are. WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO WITH IT...WHAT CAN YOU DO WITH IT TO TAKE IT TO THE NEXT LEVEL is the deciding factor...at least it is for me.

It is plainly evident that many have lost site of WHAT MOBI IS AND CAN BE.

I don't want to read anymore about how much is this worth, how much is that worth. Why? Because it ain't worth a damn penny more than you paid for it until someone comes along and offers you one penny more. I am all done offering appraisals and assessments because that is what it is worth...the number of years you regged it. Someone wants to give you $300 for it? Great! Yippee! Take it. Why hold out! You're not going to do a damn thing with it except sit on and wait until someone offers you more.

I don't understand all the talk and chatter about mobi when there isn't shit being done about it other than the talk and chatter that I see the bulk of every one just stroking each other. I am about to throw up this morning's breakfast over all the cutesy smiley faces I see as if that is supposed to make me feel better about all the bullshit I see and read.

Look around...seriously look around. Where are the bulk of mobi fans, developers, designers? Right here on this forum. I have seen some incredible work come out of this forum and I have learned an incredible amount since joining.

Go to other forums and talk mobi. The assholes will run over you and won't think twice or look back to see if there are any remains visible.

It is time to mobilize mobi. Right here, right now.

Use and abuse each other and each others talents and capabilities. I am not a programmer. But nearly 30 years of being in advertising in one form or another gives me an insight to marketing and promotion. I have paid for sites to be designed months ago. Still waiting.

What is every one else waiting on? Someone else's success? Or your own.

It is time to mobilize mobi. Right here, right now.

I can design the hell out of some logos and banners. I can promote the hell out of mobi with any of the 3000+ domains that I own. I can promote the hell out of my sites and mobi at the same time by having nearly 20,000 postcards posted in hospitals all throughout the country (USA) and they will be posted. I know my market, I know how to market to them, I know what they need, and I know the voids and how to fill those voids.

What can you do? What are you going to do? What can you do for me? I can't program but I sure as hell will learn. What is your market? What is your specialty? What are you the resident expert in? What are you going to do for yourself? What are you going to do for others?

Folks, this is a gut check...a reality check. I can sugarcoat all this boring BS you're reading but it will be so sickly sweet it will make you want to puke.

This is the real deal. I don't take any thing back once I put it out there. Gotta deal with it. You gotta deal with the reality and the reality is mobi needs to be mobilized. And I think a great many people are waiting on us to do it.

You don't have to agree with all of this dribble or my take and philosophy on what mobi is and can be. I am not looking for applause or kudos or rep added. But I am also not going to stroke someone else's ego and be a member of the mutual admiration society.

Get off your asses and do something. Make it happen. Make it work. Carry each other if you need to.

Me, I'm not waiting any more.

Jeff - it's not obsessing - it's called counterpunching - to the continuous jab-jab-jab-jab-jab-jab-jab at dot mobi and mtld at almost every turn. And it's not parANOIA ... it's the ANNOYA...ing negativity directed at the extension whenever possible, sometimes ever so slyly. I think most everyone who owns some mobis would agree that it's enough already.

From day one, we have endured a drumbeat of negative comments coming from those who have no real investment in the extension. And that may have some potential to tarnish the extension in newcomers' eyes. New domainers are joining every day and unwarranted negative posts can possibly hurt potential interest in this extension. Dot mobi believers are not spending their time in other tld forums to tear down the competition so it should not be like that here in ther .mobi section either. The NP mgmt did a good job getting rid of the very caustic, unproductive posters we all had to put up with early on after landrush as they should have. NP is a great forum and fun to be part of. The vibrant dot mobi section is adding real value to the property. I try to contribute to that purpose.

I applaud all of your kudos to those who are making informative posts and putting a real effort into their development and any new relevant constructive crticism is welcome and I enjoy it. It's the repeated negativity that I get tired of. I have the right to defend something I believe in and an that I am invested in when I see detractors trying to tear it down, overtly or covertly.

But you are right on something. I need to stop wasting my time letting it annoy me so much. I have better things to think about and do. It's put to bed. One more thing - may I suggest mutual signature disarmament ???

great post...it's one thing to have an opinion and another thing to be spamming every thread ....tv forum has an actual rule against it...I propose the same thing here in the mobi forum...it would just be a courtesy to the many people here...time is precious and weeding through the spam posts is getting rediculous...

By the way HARD SPUN may win it! (but don't blame me if he doesn't)...Also the jockey Mario Pino that is riding hardspun is related to my best friends brother in law....and may have to bet him (good choice though in and exacta or tri) I just need at least 3-4 hours before the race to get my thoughts clear after some more tastey beverages

I have recently regged the domain MobilizingMobi.com. Why? That is what needs to happen. Perhaps I coined the term, perhaps I didn't but I have been using it for a while now. Along with MobiPhobics and MobiPhiles. Here's the situation...I see everybody patting each other on the back for this wonderful reg and this wonderful reg. I am about to puke. Some of the crap I am seeing is beyond any reasoning or applications to mobi. To me, half the shit I am reading is that...shit in any lanquage. The rationale I see for regging is beyond rationale. Just because it is a dictionary word, just because it has a high OVT, just because it is regged in every other known TLD reg...that does NOT mean it is applicable to a mobile format, a mobile lifestyle, or even worth the money you paid for it. Guess what? THERE IS SOME GEMS LEFT! I'm getting a big kick out of google returns and OVT rankings as if that has the final word on whether its a keeper or not. It doesn't make a big hill of beans what the hell it is or what it says or what the rankings are. WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO WITH IT...WHAT CAN YOU DO WITH IT TO TAKE IT TO THE NEXT LEVEL is the deciding factor...at least it is for me. It is plainly evident that many have lost site of WHAT MOBI IS AND CAN BE. I don't want to read anymore about how much is this worth, how much is that worth. Why? Because it ain't worth a damn penny more than you paid for it until someone comes along and offers you one penny more. I am all done offering appraisals and assessments because that is what it is worth...the number of years you regged it. Someone wants to give you $300 for it? Great! Yippee! Take it. Why hold out! You're not going to do a damn thing with it except sit on and wait until someone offers you more. I don't understand all the talk and chatter about mobi when there isn't shit being done about it other than the talk and chatter that I see the bulk of every one just stroking each other. I am about to throw up this morning's breakfast over all the cutesy smiley faces I see as if that is supposed to make me feel better about all the bullshit I see and read. Look around...seriously look around. Where are the bulk of mobi fans, developers, designers? Right here on this forum. I have seen some incredible work come out of this forum and I have learned an incredible amount since joining. Go to other forums and talk mobi. The assholes will run over you and won't think twice or look back to see if there are any remains visible. It is time to mobilize mobi. Right here, right now. Use and abuse each other and each others talents and capabilities. I am not a programmer. But nearly 30 years of being in advertising in one form or another gives me an insight to marketing and promotion. I have paid for sites to be designed months ago. Still waiting. What is every one else waiting on? Someone else's success? Or your own. It is time to mobilize mobi. Right here, right now. I can design the hell out of some logos and banners. I can promote the hell out of mobi with any of the 3000+ domains that I own. I can promote the hell out of my sites and mobi at the same time by having nearly 20,000 postcards posted in hospitals all throughout the country (USA) and they will be posted. I know my market, I know how to market to them, I know what they need, and I know the voids and how to fill those voids. What can you do? What are you going to do? What can you do for me? I can't program but I sure as hell will learn. What is your market? What is your specialty? What are you the resident expert in? What are you going to do for yourself? What are you going to do for others? Folks, this is a gut check...a reality check. I can sugarcoat all this boring BS you're reading but it will be so sickly sweet it will make you want to puke. This is the real deal. I don't take any thing back once I put it out there. Gotta deal with it. You gotta deal with the reality and the reality is mobi needs to be mobilized. And I think a great many people are waiting on us to do it. You don't have to agree with all of this dribble or my take and philosophy on what mobi is and can be. I am not looking for applause or kudos or rep added. But I am also not going to stroke someone else's ego and be a member of the mutual admiration society. Get off your asses and do something.
