Very nice to see such a strong LLL.mobi sale (assuming that the transaction will be completed, of course)!

Are you aware of whether there are any end users involved in this bidding war, Jeremy?

I wouldn't go so far as to say that...HMO and IOU are not your typical LLL domains. I'd be very surprised to see more typical LLL.mobi names getting into this range in the near future. Maybe a few years down the road...

HMO = Health Maintenance Organization = pre-pay medical
One of the biggest industries in the US.

A tiny tiny price for that domain.
Jeremy must have misplaced his checkbook.

Well "HMO" was just defined above by accentnepal, but "IOU" is basically shorthand for "I owe you" -- as in a reminder of $$$ owed.

same as with iou.mobi... if the winning bidder backs out of HMO.mobi, it is mine. Mixed feelings about getting outbid on this one too but time will tell... the sale is legit (or will be)... because if the high bidder doesn't buy it, I am buying it.

HMO is great, IOU was also great, but it doesn't mean that other LLLs will rise in price. For those that don't know the meanings, check google... both are well-known terms.

and no thanks to Jeremy for sending more eyeballs to the auction and making the price rise too quickly. ;->

I had my hands full yesterday buying aftermarket .mobis and was spreading myself too thin... hopefully I made the right choice it letting go of HMO.mobi

congrats to buyer and seller... and seller.. if high bidder backs out, don't worry! LOL.

.
I think there were many of us vultures sitting on the fence watching this one.
I was bidder 3 or 4 and I almost bid on HMO.mobi in the last minutes but the OVT seemed very low even though an awesome acronym. Like many I have too many buys in the works and taxes just mailed so I had to pass.

I am actively buying and selling MOBI as I decided I got some great names in the landrush but now I need to focus on a few niches and develop them rather than try to develop too many domains with completely different focuses and spread myself to thin.

Although I am a Mobi enthusiast I would heed caution and consider this analogy:

In the early days of TV there was only NBC , ABC , and CBS.
This went on for many years until companies came up with the concept of cable TV. Many people were not cable enthusiasts and couldn't believe anyone would consider PAYING for TV.

Nothing happened overnight but slowly cable grew until it has become the giant it is now. Unlike the original companies though cable is an industry and many NICHE channels came into being.

NBC , CBS, and ABC still exist and still are among the biggest players in television. However, other companies have also become household standards like HBO. And although HBO is a major player in the market they don't dominate the market. HBO must share the market with Showtime, Cinemax, and others.

This wasn't a perfect analogy but I say this because as much as I am a fan of MOBI I am a fan also of TV, INFO, NET , BIZ , IDNs , and many other TLDs and platforms. I think each of these extensions and platforms has value and potential for keywords that correlate to direct usage by consumers.

We are at a crossroads in the internet industry and now is an awesome time to be investing in and developing domains.

My 2 cents......

My 2 cents......

I have been witnessing the importance of "not spreading yourself too thin" myself.. (a key factor, of course, is choice with time..); but, also, one doesn't want to dig for a well where there is no water underneath..

Great analogy here, thanks

This analogy is interesting.. yes in MBA grad school they say, ideally, no one can have complete marketshare..

My personal spin on this is with the whole YouTube social phenomenon..

YouTube has dominated market share, along with a little Google etc..

But, I see this, perhaps, as with cable tv - branching off to niche markets..

Particularly, for the new mobile phone terrain.. the emerging #1 mobile human entertainment experience of VIDEO.

For development, content can be RSS'ed & each domain can be its own production studio..

It's 2 way interaction, on demand for the masses, video content.. cable tv gave people a choice; and, that's what they have more than ever with this whole new online video phenomenon.. plus people can pass it on to their friends virally - no more $200,000 fines for: WARNING THIS MATERIAL IS COPYRIGHTED etc.. with those "productions".. it's all about the reality shows! And with video, one doesn't need to have an expensive live production on all the time as with TV..
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=318692

..just upload once or RSS = return visitors and hoped viral traffic growth.. globally..

-----

Things to think about, I am drafting "Video" Dot Mobi domains heavily..

Let's consider sharing and linking together in the future..

Kind Regards,

Yelo

Who purchased HMO.mobi ... and, according to Whois at present at least, is or was IOU and HMO owned by the same person / entity (Contours d'Elegance, LLC)?

Seems kind of coincidental, at first blush ...

Thanks for any additional insight.
