| www.LLLL.com Forum Moderator | I like kidcare. Unless you're a very experienced domainer, you're definitely better off pooling your funds together and buying names that are of better quality from fellow NPers/Sedo/Afternic/... There's not very much left that's all that good and if you're finding more than 1-2 names per day to reg, it probably means you're not regging good ones. Some stuff to check before registering a name: 1. Google -- how many results are there? How many people are advertising that particular keyword? How much is that particular keyword paying per click? 2. Overture -- how many times was the word searched in the last month? In the last 2 months? 3. Wordtracker -- Sometimes Overture is off -- are Wordtracker scores stable from one month to the next? How do the Wordtracker scores of your words compare to the Wordtracker scores of the words your fellow NPers have? 4. Memorability -- If it's more than 1 word, or is a made up word, is it memorable? Could it have particular applications to different target markets? How does it sound when you say it? Does it sound natural or forced? 5. Length -- How long is the word? It's very difficult to type long words into a cell phone which does not have an integrated keyboard. Voice recognition on all cell phones is still a long ways from becoming mainstream and integrated keyboards are currently only found on very high end models. If it's a longer word, how easy would it be to attain the top position (or near the top) in a search engine? 6. Target Market -- Is the word (or words) generic in nature applying to an entire market (i.e. real estate, finances, music, technology,...), or does it segment that market (i.e. New York Real Estate, Laptop hard drives,..) It's optimal if the word can be applied to a larger field, yet remain not so generic as to be difficult to brand or attain a very good search ranking in. Something like "flowers" for example is a better word than plants, despite the fact that flowers are in reality part of a plant. Likewise, flowers is a better word than garden as it applies to a larger demographic, yet still remains brandable. ------- It's a lot of information to really get into domaining at first, but it won't take long... Soon, you'll be giving people advice on registering dotmobis |

| Forum Moderator Forum Moderator | Excellent suggestions Reece, but don't give away all the secrets! It's kind of funny, some of the domains I have that I thought were not good according to the above criteria are actually getting hits. Dripping.mobi, who'd have thought? |

| Senior Member | I think every name in your portfolio is worth $0 - regfee. None of them are generic or local or anything and some of them would even be worth nothing in .com. I would listen to the advice from the people above and stick to buying names from the aftermarket instead of regging and check out OVT, Google, etc before buying anything. |

| Forum Moderator Forum Moderator | I wouldn't think that any of those names have much overture, google ads, google searches or wordtracker, except maybe eurailpass. Personally, I don't even know what your reasoning for regging them would be. I've regged my share of bombs too though, that's for sure, but these are pretty bad. |

| NamePros Member | GulfBreeze.mobi is your best name out of this group. It is local. This is a small city south of Pensacola Florida on the coast. That entire area is great for weddings and vacationing. It's OVT results are low but it does have fair Google results with ads and other extensions using this name with development. So, This one can be a money maker for you in the future as a an info and directory site. Ellusionist has a Principle Trademark so you'll want to tread very lightly with that one. I would say get rid of it because you wouldn't want your name all over the internet in a UDRP decision. Reece gave some nice research advice (rep added) and since you haven't spent much so far you may want to look in the different marketplaces for names that fill your categories. | NamePros Member | Perdidokey.mobi is a local as well. Perdidokey is close to where I live. And I live in Gulf breeze,fl. I bought two domain names of city's nearby where I live. I thought that was the point, to buy local cities for city directory's. Quote:
Anyone willing to help me develop kidcare let me know your rates. I was going for a local dynamic search by zip for Pediatricians,Daycares,Emergency and Child Services with an advanced search option. Pretty simple but affective. And also I sold one of my first .mobs for $100 so I pretty mych made most of my money back from the reg. fee from my crap domains. | NamePros Member | Nice site That sounds like a good idea. You're off to a good start on your first local site. Keep it up. Wow, you contacted them. Gulp! I'm speaking from experience in regards to trademarks. You've given them a heads up but I suppose it will be a wait and see now. I can tell you this much. If you develop that name they can turn around at any time and sue for royalties. The trademark preceeds the domain registration so even though they claim now to have no interest, that could change in the future and they would have the rights. |

| Love God Love Life | Opportunity Cost First, know that your in the right place - Dot Mobi for domaining.. Yes, for pure internet real estate investment, if you have the money, consider a strong aftermarket dot mobi purchase at today's bargain prices.. Aside from that, don't cancel your development hopes, though.. Remember time is a currency.. "Opportunity Cost" means what you do, comes at the cost of doing something else.. So, for domaining, a name you "skip" on, $ can be used to buy a better name later - a mentality to observe Make a list to compare names side by side.. Ones that you think will get taken soon, put on the top of the list (you can always try to get those brandables you're thinking about, later, when more cash comes in - and end up with both) Think viability and brandability Development.. Can you get a name or idea that gives "return visitors"? Also.. use your niche specialty knowledge to grab and gobble your niche up.. Finally, what gives you joy in life? In the end, what everyone wants (that even elude rich people) is happiness supported by lifestyle.. so what are your dreams? What would you like to do? For others? Spiritually? Draft your destiny.. Kind Regards, Yelo
